I certainly think the MAC is a conference that can & will be dominated by one or 2 schools. Look at the past & what you see is a league that has one or two teams dominate it. The past ten yrs it has been Akron & Kent. I think the possibility of Buffalo doing so looks good at the moment. When we were strong the other league power was Miami.Miami has been 17 NCAA tourneys in the MAC's 70 seasons. That is all I want 1 NCAA bid every four years.

That is tough with the tournament being the way required. If we are top 3 or 4 every year, we don't win the tournament that often, because of the inevitable upsets and the grind of 3 games. NIT requires being a good team, not just winning the tournament. We could be 12 or 13 wins every year in conference and not meet your goal, or get to the NIT. I'd say we should say say compete every year, get into real post season play just like the other top 3 teams in the MAC. Whatever that is. The field will win the tourney or upset a good team too often to really expect a lot more. Look at the last 5 years where Akron has been very good. That's about our best case scenario. We aspire to be where Akron was, expect and predict a little less than that.

For a mid pack team the conference tourney makes getting to the NCAA exponentially easier not more difficult.

Which is my point about being a good team, you just can't measure that by NCAA appearances the way you would expect. You damned near have to be dominant to get the expected 1/3 share if you are a top 3 team.

Yeah we know you don't like the NCAAs as a yardstick, you don't like RPI as a yardstick, blah blah blah blah blah blah......................... What exactly is your definition of "good" ?

When will you "dreamers" learn that all that really matters is if we compete and finish in the top 4 every year and maybe once a decade or two we can make the Dance or NIT. Never mind that NIT also impossible forgot that one. OK, once every twenty years we go to the Big Show. So the last time we were there was 1999-2000, so not this year, not next year, but in 2020 we are dancing baby!!

Oddly enough, it was the Notre Dame game that was the final straw for me. I didn't bother to watch it, or follow it in any way. And when I saw the result, I felt..... nothing.
That's when he realized his whole life had been a lie.

And yes, we probably cannot expect to go to the dance every 4 years. I'd expect and want more than once on 20 years... That does not necessarily put Whit on a 2 year clock though.

This is pretty much how I pictured you during your absence: sitting alone by your fire staring into your lap yearning for Longwood.

Their only byes to Cleveland were 08-09(a gift wrapped bye due to an utterly horrific MAC West), the 10-11 season, and 16-17 which felt like a carbon copy of 10-11. 3 times in 15 seasons. As Charles Barkley would say, "That's turrible."
