That was a complete collapse do to an inability to shoot. It was 41-36 & 6 minutes later 56-36. If we shoot under 30% we are not going to win on the road. We survived shooting woes in several games, and we got inside, hit the boards on missed shots. Moses was not the disappointment here. Thompson when he shows up is a very good Center. Posters above are too tough on Trey. Not that he couldn't be better, but this is not a case of any old D1 center outplaying him.

I think Moses is doing very well, statistically, in the MAC games AND was the only decent showing today.
I hear your defense, but........MAC centers are not even close to “any old D1 center”.

Ill say this Thompson is a guy that will get some NBA interest Trey is not.. Trey is always going to struggle against really athletic bigs its just what it is. He has played well in MAC games and like Ive said about Persons where would we be without him

The problem is trey totally disappearing in the second half. For us to be the team we can be he can’t disappear in the presence of a good player. And for trey to truly be the player he can be the thought is the same. He’s gotta prove it against the best he goes up against. Otherwise he’s just another guy when it really counts.

Outmatched physically is one thing, but at 6'9", you can't just be a body out there. Umpteen missed layups when he beat his man and an airballed free throw for the third consecutive game. Trey needs to do better than today.

Oh I agree with that 100 percent with this and that is the problem. Trey's game can be taken away by the best bigs in the MAC. He has to somehow find a way to still contribute when up against that type of player

The one guy that had a decent game gets “blasted” by some. Was it Trey against EMU or was it 5-5??

One of, if not the worst offensive effort I have ever seen by a Ball State team. How do you play like this after the Toledo game. Have to give Eastern credit, they played great/good defense.
Sad!!!

The one guy that had a decent game gets “blasted” by some. Was it Trey against EMU or was it 5-5?? Do not think any one is blasting him just saying he has to be better for us to to do anything.. Same with Persons and Teague. Teagues disappearing act today is another thing we cant have. We would be talking about that more but that is has been his pattern since he has been here.. Persons we know as well does not play well against a zone. Bottom line for us to to do anything Trey, Person and Teague have to be around 15 a piece every game from here on out

Trey has a good first half when their big is on the bench and we’re right there in the game. He does nothing in the second half with Thompson out there and we get blown out. Yeah it’s a team game but Moses not at least holding his own against Thompson there is a very obvious one to one relationship. Trey had a good first half but that’s it. He very obviously did not show up in the second half so yeah, he’s gonna get heat. That’s how it works. The other guys didn’t show up for either half, save Mallers who did a little bit on the second half. But Moses’s complete no show in the second half stands out. If that was a rare occurrence it’d not be that big a deal but that’s how he plays against most strong bigs. And Trey is 6’9, 245. It’s not like he’s a 6’6 kid in there. There’s zero doubt the entire team sucked today. It’s just not good to see trey shrink in the second half against a guy like Thompson. Especially after Moses had been so aggressive the last two games. If you want to be a champion you have to rise up when challenged, not disappear.

Check the line score from the 1/2 meeting. Thompson and Moses played just about even. Trey had a double/double in the last meeting and Thompson didn’t. As much as these kids have been through this year, I would think the focus would be on what they have accomplished. How much D1 basketball experience do you have?

Ah, the ol “you didn’t play so you can’t have an opinion” take.
Champions overcome stuff that happens along the way.

Because I have been critical of the team in the past I have try to wait for some time to pass after a game to post my observations and opinion. After this debacle I could not wait any longer. Middle of the road, mediocre, no heart, no soul, no toughness, who cares attitude, no intensity, no grit, too passive. I think I will stop there. This is not a very good basketball team. I should not be surprised. We played a decent OOC schedule and won one meaningful game. I hoped that we might have turned a corner in the program but we have not. It was a start but if we want to build a team with a history we have a LONG way to go.
