Heres another point...I believe its the Coaches who recognized Moses not me. I think Thompson is a better center and tougher for sure but I would not trade even up but just my view. By the way, Reevo, I did not take it as an attack, as I think much of what you've said is true about Moses but I also think he's a bit better than you credit him for. No attack Kid!! I think everybody is aware of the style of play I think would work best for us. I personally like Trey Moses and think he is an outstanding person which is more important than being a great basketball player. I think he has had a good year and think he would be really good with a more physical presence inside. My belief is for this program to get back to being the best in the MAC, we have to be much more physical inside. It is not body type, though that helps. Its a demeanor and thuggish attitude that I am going to kick your ass if you come into the lane. Our most successful teams had that in Kidd, McCurdy, Payne, Gillis etc. We miss toughness and the ability to out tough teams when the game is on the line. It is not in Trey's personality to be a thug and his lack of athleticism and his lack of wanting to attack the rim with authority consistently is simply not in his DNA. It does not mean he is not a good player, he is simply not the type of post that is going to take us over the top against the better teams. The other guys I mentioned played well against high major programs and MAC programs. No drop off and we have yet to see Trey do that consistently against better teams. Again, I think he would be a great complimentary piece, which he is now, but better with a tougher inside player next to him! I am about MAC championships, MAC tournament Championships, NCAA tournament bids and beating quality teams. There is a successful blue print that the better Mid Major Programs follow, have consistent success and bully other programs and that blue print lies in our history. Tough Physical interior play who controls the glass on both ends, physical hard nosed man to man, strong guards who can shoot and lock up the their man defensively and can get to the rim and more importantly, a team built around dictating the pace of play. This man speaks the truth! Just reading Reevo's post makes me wish I could see those guys and coaches play again. Talk about some tough SOB's man they didn't care if they were playing Miami or Louisville, they were going to kick your ass period. Reevo is correct, this was the mindset of the coaches and they recruited to this mindset This is not Whit's style and thus he does not recruit this style of player. I think it's not only hilarious but even more so revealing to Whit's recruiting approach about how Whit said that he "blew it" when not recruiting Pearson out of high school and Pearson is the only guy on the team that's a tough minded player! Hmmm? 🤔

Lets get back to the cogent point brought up by gocards17: reevo has not personally sired a monster center child for us and therefore has no credibility on this whole topic.

I'm going to defend reevo a bit. I have heard him say lots of good things about Moses this season. Plus I generally agree with his thought that we need to play stronger and more consistently inside. When we do we are a much better team. When we play soft and shy away from contact we aren't so good. Sometimes all it takes to get Moses going is a cheap shot and then he can be very physical.

BJ Duling from Kent State looks like Ryan Phillippe from Cruel Intentions.

[ How can any post player be effective in this style of play? Thompson is the focus of the offense. There are several possessions where the ball never goes past the foul line. What “monster center” wants to come to a program when he sees no touches in the paint. Notice I did not say shots but touches. Great point which is why I have a problem with our style of play. Thompson is the focal part of their offense because he is pretty damn good and has a chance to play at the next level. He has a 10 cent head but he is gifted athletically and has a mean streak. He can control both ends of the floor, Trey is simply not that kind of player. We need that kind of player to get back to the program we all want. We need a bunch of guys that are hired henchman that will punch you in the mouth when it gets tough. We have one.   There is legitimate alternative to smash mouth inside play. And that smash style requires getting the fairly rare Thompson level talent. General preaches balance, with a roster that can do multiple things. Probably the goal of everyone. I have seen excellent college teams that relied on smart play and shooting a mix of talents. I am also happy with a style that features more athleticism, more quickness and good shooting, for example. Controlling pace by going fast and furious requires that just as smash requires size strength toughness inside. We had some potential to use an alternative to smash mouth this year, but shooting went South. We lost 3 relatively quick players, and our seniors fizzled except Sellers. And ended up playing big with imperfect players for that. Since you never have everything you want the key as a mid major is to use what you have very well. Sure level of talent is essential, but I think we can win with quite a bit different types of teams. Here's where reevo is spot on. That toughness variable is critical to all. Easier if you are big or athletic, but every team has to have it. Sometimes we do with this team. Sadly not always.

You don’t eff with a streak. So you don’t eff with the hair during a streak.

I’m happy with a style where we don’t pontificate ad nauseum and where we kick people’s ass and win championships and play in that one really important tournament. That’s a good style.
