I note CSNBBS site on this wk's MAC game prediction currently has 16 picking NIU & 12 picking BSU. That to me if much closer than I think this fan site would be.

Did I give up a nut for Kent state? I might be out of nuts You might be parting with them too easily if you can't remember.

I so want to beat NIU. All of this nut and testicle talk is uncomfortable. The last game I made it to Muncie for was the last time NIU came to town.
Reminds me of how badly I wanted to beat CMU in 2008. I still think that's the best game since I enrolled. They were a great team, at home, in the cold. But we were just better.
If we beat NIU it'll be because they fell below our level, not because we rose above theirs.

Will weather be a factor in this game? I see the forecast calls for a good chance of rain on Saturday. Have a safe drive.

It is true we do not have good recent history vs. NIU, but NIU is not significantly more talented than us this year. I think it is a little unfair to our team to say that if we win it is because NIU gave us the game. I’m not calling BS, but I will say that I don’t want to discredit our team before the game. We very well may lose and may even lose big and make it a moot point. I just hope we can continue this discussion on Saturday about why we beat NIU.

We don’t go from giving up 63 to them one year to beating them the next purely by suddenly being better than them across the board. Niu has to fall a bit as well. That’s what Jackson is saying. We haven’t yet elevated to the level they HAD been at. Niu was picked to win the west or finish second. We are not suddenly that good. For us to beat them, niu will have to underachieve based on projections.

That's what I was trying to say. In 2008 CMU was still a top dog. We just got even better than them.
I guess NIU hasn't been that good for a while. I'm still thinking of the Lembo era when Lynch was the QB. NIU used to be great.
We may be improved. But we are not great.

NIU is not as good of a team this year, we are better and more healthy than we were last year, and the game is at home. This game will be completely different from last year’s game.

Niu has two Mac wins. Only gave up 17 to Utah. Their non conference schedule was very good. Their d appears to be very good. Their offense might not be as good as it has been but I don’t think we can say they aren’t as good a team relative to our team yet. We’ve proved nothing so far.

For us to beat them, niu will have to underachieve based on projections. Projections can and are often wrong. They are usually based on the previous year outcomes, but previous year is not always the best predictor of what will happen next year. I find this is especially true in the MAC. NIU and Toledo probably have established reputations as the most consistent programs, but I don’t consider them head and shoulders above the rest. Most MAC teams are relatively even talent wise, and teams rotate being good based on Coaching and QB play.

Most people believe this game is going to be close. That means most people think our teams are relatively even. Therefore, if we win, it is likely not because NIU plays down to our level. It would be more likely that we are two evenly matched teams and we find a way to win.
