Niu has two Mac wins. Only gave up 17 to Utah. Their non conference schedule was very good. Their d appears to be very good. Their offense might not be as good as it has been but I don’t think we can say they aren’t as good a team relative to our team yet. We’ve proved nothing so far. Is it possible Utah doesn’t have a great offense? They only put up 7 points vs. Washington (granted Washington is a very good team). NIU also gave up 37 to a FSU team that can’t score on anybody. Look, NIU is favored and expected to win. They beat us every year and they’ll probably beat us again on Saturday. However, why assume that we can’t win or if we do that it is a fluke? We can WIN this game. NIU does not have to lose it.

Bottom line for me is we can’t beat them until we beat them. Two years ago niu was winless and we were looking good and we shit the bed against them. I don’t care how bad we were last year, given up 63 to a Mac team was ridiculous. That’s what happens to us when we play them and until we prove otherwise I’m going to assume it’ll happen again.

That’s fair. To me, it is very different to assume we are going to lose than it is to say if we win it is because NIU lost the game. We had a lot of very embarrassing games last year. At least to this point this year, we have been competitive in all but 1 game. I expect the game tomorrow to be a good one.

We’re gonna win by 3 scores. Then we will lose by 3 scores

Fact: NIU has not scored more than 26 points in a game this year. The 26 points scored last week came in an OT win over EMU. Ball State scored twice as many points, 52, against Kent State last week.
Just saying.

We’re gonna win by 3 scores. Then we will lose by 3 scores I think that cancels it all out? So we then do go ahead and win by 3 scores?

We haven’t yet elevated to the level they HAD been at.
That's what I was trying to say. In 2008 CMU was still a top dog. We just got even better than them.
I guess NIU hasn't been that good for a while. I'm still thinking of the Lembo era when Lynch was the QB. NIU used to be great.
We may be improved. But we are not great.
Wasn't Antonio Brown on that CMU team? Let that sink in for a second.

I think their defense is way better than our defense, but our offense is way better than their offense. What is the usual outcomes of matchups like this? I honestly don't know. What I do know is that I watched the NIU/CMU game earlier this year and it was a mess. Turnovers on 4 straight possessions I believe between both teams. I know NIU has our number, but I think this is their worst team in a while. Their QB Childers looks very uncomfortable trying to throw the ball. He his mistake prone, big time. I think we can capitalize on his mistakes.
I don't have the balls to pick us to win, but I think if we do win this game that there's a really good chance that we could sniff the 6 win mark on the year. CMU, WMU, and Miami are worse than NIU in my opinion as of right now, and we still have those guys left on the schedule.

Keep in mind Childers is a good runner. We historically don’t do well against running QBs. (Partly because we had too many slow linebackers, which isn’t the case now)
We gotta keep niu one dimensional, but as bad as our secondary is we could make Childers look like a heismann candidate.
Hopefully our guys play with a huge chip on their shoulder.
