Looking at the team stats. We shot pretty well. Just not enough attempts. We actually beat them in the second half. The run at the end of the first half sealed the deal. I'm not big on critiquing our players too much against quality competition.
I still think we are going to have a really special year.

Totally agree! Trey does not look comfortable with the ball, either in the low or high post. He looks like he’s afraid to make a mistake.
This might not mean much of anything, but Ish’s 3 at the end kept our loss by single digits. 2 losses to 2 top 25 teams by 9 points isn’t the end of the world. I think we’ll be ok in conference, even if Trey continues to disappoint.
I also agree with a lot of what you said about KJ playing wild. If he gets under control I think we have the shooters to do some damage if KJ drives and kicks out to open players. I thought the vast majority of 3’s we took today were good shots.

VT was a good team. Half court defense very good.
Did not like some of the lineups we played, but we have to find a bench player or combo that can score. Cannot have both Persons and Mallers out of the game at same time, and have to look for Nehls and Ish when they are open. Both were standing outside open too many times.
We have to get Trey, Taj, Hazen some inside post opps against a team pressuring us outside as much.
Defense good at times, then allowed a layup. VT got some long rebounds, but we did not match them in intensity on boards.

We will be a good mac team.. Is that enough People complained about the competition we played last year, this year we have REALLY UPPED the competition. Losing by nine to two Top 25 teams isn’t all bad. The players competed and never gave up. Keep it up and we are looking at a good year. By seasons end, we could be a special team.

Here’s the problem though: save a couple a guys our shooting was abysmal when it still mattered. And, we are a team that gives up runs like that all the time. We can’t keep giving up runs we can’t recover from. We’ll still end up being a good team, but, good enough? Will we get anywhere?

Losing by nine to two Top 25 teams isn’t all bad. The players competed and never gave up. Keep it up and we are looking at a good year. By seasons end, we could be a special team. Cosmetics might look good but the real picture is we got our asses kicked whgn it really mattered vs PU and vt. Hitting 3’s late when the game is not in doubt just doesn’t matter. And no, we did not compete. We had a couple guys show up to play and the rest gave us virtually nothing. If we expect to be a special team that cannot happen. And with whits teams it does far too often. We need to find out who wants to play and the rest can sit. We can’t excuse off playing piss poor vs the really good teams and at the same time talk about how good we’re gonna be. Be good from the start! Quit jacking around. Buffalo has it figured out. Why can’t we? It’s still very obvious that we don’t play well against athletic and aggressive teams. Whittling down the final score against reserves in losses doesn’t mean jack if we aim to be champions. I guess that’s ok as long as you’re content with 3rd or 4th seed in the MAC every year.

Broken Record time. Our lack of inside attack is our Achilles heal. Moses gives us nothing against better teams and Hazen was lost today. We were fine out in the perimeter other then our lack of keeping anyone out of the lane. Rebounding was a killer in the second half and our depth was definitely a problem. Bottom line is we are a big guy away from being really good, the problem is we are not recruiting any.

Too many holes that existing guys don't seem anywhere close to filling.
