I wish NU could've saved Ryan Field and just done an overhaul. It had such a historic feel to it, with an interesting architectural style.

I was thinking Market Square was pretty avant garde for its day. Gainbridge went away from the dome, has a lot of glass on that entry, and is not exactly traditional either. Both in an urban setting work pretty well. Neither has any old school arena feel, like Hinkle.
You're right the new athletic complex at NU is surely not the old guard "Dyche Stadium" from 100 years ago, but the college campus is radically different too. It was built in a different era of the city and the university, a contemporary of Soldier Field. Still, that renovation still has some old vibe, but isn't a multipurpose sports complex.
