Loyola Ramblers 5-3UMKC W 76-45 - Kaifes 19pts, Williamson 9reb FURMAN L 58-60 - Custer 19pts, Williamson 11reb NIAGARA W 75-62 - Krutwig 18pts, Krutwig 11reb GRAMBLING W 80-64 - Krutwig 18pts, Williamson 9 reb vs Richmond W 82-66 - Williamson 23pts, Krutwig 8 reb vs Boston College L 66-78 - Custer 17pts, Townes 7reb NEVADA L 65-79 - Townes 24pts, Townes 9reb at Illinois Chicago W 73-64 - Krutwig 16pts, Krutwig 7reb
IUPUI beat Boston College. Furman is a top 25 team that is currently undefeated. Nevada is a top 10 team that is currently undefeated. Krutwig was a BSU recruit. Has 14 blocks on the season and leads them in rebounds (7.1 rpg tied with Williamson) Small gym. Seats 4486. I actually had to go check the rankings because I thought you'd been dropped on your head. Where the f*ck did Nevada come from!? Did they have some super recruiting classes and I just missed it?

Some thoughts after watching this one -
- If we can get Walton into space and getting the ball on the move downhill in the half court, he'll very regularly be the best player on the floor. - Was good to get a road win against a good team without Persons at his best. This team needs him, but has to learn how to not constantly rely on him. - Teague made some really good plays down the stretch, and did a nice job at the foul line. He's always good for an unneccessary airballed 3 - would love to see that taken care of, but when he's in control he's a huge weapon. - The officiating was not good, and was an advantage to Loyola, but they also made a point of driving - they earned some of that from their agressiveness - Zach Gunn is a tough one for me to get a handle on. He has some really ugly misses and struggles on D...but was enormous for a stretch tonight, and hit a couple really big shots against IUPUI.
Overall: A road win against a good team, in which you out-executed them down the stretch, without needing to rely on Person's - really good result.
Through 9 I think you have to be mostly pleased. Took care of ISU, hung tough with ranked Purdue and VT. Alabama was a poor showing, took care of business against decent Evansville and IUPUI teams, and got their signature win to date tonight.

I guess you missed Nevada's making it to the Sweet 16 last year in the NCAA's and the Martin Twins who play for them. It was big news last spring when they elected to return for their senior seasons at Nevada instead of turning pro.

we bitched about the refs and it was deserved but this whole sequence could have been called the other way

I cringe every time Moses gets the ball at the top of the key. His passing from there results in a LOT of turnovers.

I cringe every time Moses gets the ball at the top of the key. His passing from there results in a LOT of turnovers. Well he’s a point forward with elite passing skills, you know. (He is a good passer but sometimes tries to get too cute or thinks he can create something that’s just not there)

I cringe every time Moses gets the ball at the top of the key. His passing from there results in a LOT of turnovers. His options there seem to be limited to passing the ball away, or take a poor shot; I guess the end result is the same, but a shot there doesn't usually result in a fast break the other way. He has the habit of getting the ball down in the block and slowly trying to back his man down like Artis Gilmore or something. I'm surprised more defenses don't collapse on him at that point and force some kind of turnover. The defense clearing out last night and giving him an untouched baseline dunk in the first half brought me out of my chair.

I cringe every time Moses gets the ball at the top of the key. His passing from there results in a LOT of turnovers. I also cringe every time Taj has the ball behind the arc and open floor in front of him. That's when I know he is settling for a three rather than forcing action by driving to the hole.

KJ has proven to be a very good player for the Cards. Smooth as glass when he has any sort of seam to the basket. If he could develop any sort of a three point shot he could become an elite player. Shoots a good mid-range jump shot. Gunn is beginning to show that he can shoot the three and getting better as a defensive player, just needs to foul less. Ish has shown he can shot, sure wish he could develop into a quality point. Hazen is beginning to become a contributor, need him on the floor. Hope he gets his back problem fixed, we need him. All in all, i feel good about this team. Two more tough away games, win these and we could be off to a good year. Go Cards!

we bitched about the refs and it was deserved but this whole sequence could have been called the other way While I totally agree this could've gone the other way, it was the right call. They had a nice view from the opposing basket and the C took a half step to his left and Teague did make some effort to go around him.
