It's strange, Persons is all too willing to play hero ball but when it come to actual leadership, huddling players and working through a tough spot he is nonexistent. I didn't see the game so I don't know, but in the past Whitford has been really bad about using timeouts to stop a rally. I agree with you for the most part and I also agree Tayler deff has some warts but I think there have been a couple games this year where we needed more Hero from Persons. He seems to be less aggressive this year which is good because he is getting others involved more but there are times when he just needs to say f it and go.. Fine line there I guess This is also very true. Yesterday he disappeared and that’s when we needed him to say “hold on boys, this ain’t happening.” What adjustments were made by whit?

Fine line there I guess Part of the issue is when Persons is hyper assertive he turns the ball over way too much. What it comes down to is he isn't really a point guard and is playing out of position.

Hyper assertive is a good description. We do want him on the attack, but not crazy with it.

Hyper assertive is a good description. We do want him on the attack, but not crazy with it. Typical of a Whitford coached team we currently rank 294th in turnovers. Our lack of a true point guard is a real issue and it's not going to get better next year.

There is no doubt Persons is playing out of position but a weakness just as great to me is that the coach has allowed him to take complete control over the games in the closing moments. Yesterday it did not matter.

I also read comments in Eville paper & I agree with BSU1 this team is not good enough to pull that & not learn to suffer for it.I also believe Eville's Asts Lickliter & Graves had a lot to do with Eville winning that game.

.I also believe Eville's Asts Lickliter & Graves had a lot to do with Eville winning that game. Yeah Evansville has switched from putting teams on the floor to program building mode. It's only going to be a couple of years before they fly passed us.

"We have a lot going on school wise for our guys," Whitford said. "I wish we would've played this game on Saturday, but it was tough playing Loyola so late. We'll have a few days off to worry about exams and we'll comeback for practice for the Valpo game."
Does he seriously suspend practice during finals week ? I have never heard of a coach doing that. For Christ's Sake you have more free time during finals week than any other time of year.

Well I’d rather they focus on finals so they all stay eligible.

Well I’d rather they focus on finals so they all stay eligible. They can't do both ? You have entire football teams preparing for bowl games and these guys can't practice. Finals week, unless you are a moron, is one big goof-off.

I’d certainly at least have light workouts. But. 🤷♂️

As far as I know our coaches have always backed off during finals week.
