As far as I know our coaches have always backed off during finals week. I don't mind cutting the length of practices a little, but not practicing at all is ridiculous and unnecessary.

In past, they practiced, but players weren't there if Final required study.
Usually done with Finals by Th AM.

Practice or no practice. We just plain sucked. Hopefully a wakeup call.

Whit used the word hubris to describe the team’s mindset yesterday. He tried to tell Tayler they were playing too fast and Tayler response was “ but we’re scoring every time”. Not long after that Evansville went on their run. Maybe the kid should listen to his coach?

Evansville forward John Hall said in an interview that when they called timeout in the first half when they were down 17 that Persons and Moses were seen going to the BSU bench flexing their muscles. He said that action fired their team up and the Aces began taking over the game. I guess I have one comment and one question regarding this: Comment: If that's what truly motivates Evansville, they should win every game the rest of the way out because that shit happens all the time. Their recipe for success is now clear. Question: Moses has muscles?

I listened to the post game interview with Whit and Joel. The team members will have light workouts if they are not in a final. Team practice will be limited. I believe this is common to what other Cardinal coaches have done.

It's strange, Persons is all too willing to play hero ball but when it come to actual leadership, huddling players and working through a tough spot he is nonexistent. I didn't see the game so I don't know, but in the past Whitford has been really bad about using timeouts to stop a rally. I agree with you for the most part and I also agree Tayler deff has some warts but I think there have been a couple games this year where we needed more Hero from Persons. He seems to be less aggressive this year which is good because he is getting others involved more but there are times when he just needs to say f it and go.. Fine line there I guess What I think would be great is if we could just be consistent with Persons' responsibilities. If Whit could just tell him take care of the ball, distribute the ball, play decent D, keep the defense honest with the occasional 3 or drive, and hit the free throws down the stretch ... Unfortunately, he also has to tell him, "Oh yeah, and if everybody else sucks, it's your responsibility to take the game over the win it." I'm sure Persons probably enjoys the hero role, but that's still a helluva job description.

Not recruiting a legit point guard (or strong post) will do that to ya.

After a few days to reflect on this turd we laid, here are some positives (at least as positive as I can be) on the current sitch: 1.) If we can beat Valpo (a big if) that would be a 3-1 record on this road swing. I'd take that all day. 2.) Losing to Evil especially the way we lost should be a wake-up call to our team that just because we won handily at home and dominated early at their place doesn't guarantee a win on the road. If we don't take that lesson to heart in the MAC then shame on us. 3.) We've been playing pretty well despite Hazen in sweats. He was/is predicted to be a key piece of our rotation so when we get him back we should be better. Should I will emphasize. 4.) Walton has been a very nice addition. If they light a fire under his ass and get him to focus for 40 minutes our backcourt will dominate most teams we play other than da Bulls. OK, that's enough semi positives for now. If we play like sh*t against Valpo I reserve the right to edit/delete this post.

Totally agree. Beat Valpo and we’re looking good. Get run by them we got problems.
Hoping all these road games will build a tough road warrior mentality.

Smits is playing well if Moses can match him on the boards, we don't lose the turnover battle by more than 3 & we hold their 3 pt pct at 33% or less we win. If Evelyn & Fazekas hit 50% on 3s we definitely lose. Their past 2 games on 3s High Point loss as a team at 20% & in GWU win at 55%.
