35 minutes is too long. Few good teams have players playing that long or for many games doing so.
That good stretch last year wore us down after relatively few games.
It's not excuse, it's just fact, you need bench play. Losing Hazen loses a plus. Bound to hurt.

I’m more worried about skill drop off rather than minutes.

It's not excuse, it's just fact, you need bench play. Losing Hazen loses a plus. Bound to hurt. Yeah, well Buffalo routinely has its best players on the court of 35, 36, 37, 38 minutes. They haven't done it yet this year, but wait until MAC play gets here. You'll see Massinburg and Harris eating up minutes just like they did last year. Even if they have depth, the bench gets shortened and the top players get minutes. Not every night, but when the games really count ... when they're needed, the big guns stay on the court. But don't let that get in the way of a good excuse.

Yes, top players in big games. Sometimes.
Buffalo this year has one player 30 minutes plus per game. One 28. 6 players total over 20 and 3 more 10-15. Nobody 35.
You made a claim that can't be supported that we should expect our players to play 35 without a problem.

I’m more worried about skill drop off rather than minutes. Skills do drop off with too many minutes over an extended stretch of games. Especially if you expect tough defense. Your best players when tired foul, make more mistakes, tired legs impact shooting. They rest on one end of the floor, or just can't maintain the pace, fade in the stretch.

Radio last night said they are hoping to get him back to start the conference season.

Hopefully it’ll work out like that. Just don’t bring him back too soon with that back. I do know whit is being cautions and has Hazen’s best interests in mind.

With key games early we need him.

Let him heal and rest until he’s 100% we have lost one game in his absence. Next man up.

You made a claim that can't be supported that we should expect our players to play 35 without a problem. What type of support are you looking for? A scholarly paper on our players' aerobic capacity, mental stress and decision making under fatigue? You also make a claim, also unsupported, that we cannot expect our players to play 35 minutes with regularity without the bottom falling out of the season. Meanwhile, Massinburg played 39 minutes last night, Jordan played 35, Harris played 31. Buffalo had only seven players that played more than 5 minutes. Expect more of this as the season progresses. Please save your reply to me and instead send Nate Oats a strongly worded email informing him of the failure that will beset his team should he continue to heap such burdens on his young athletes. I'm sure he will appreciate your insight more than I do.

In isolated games against a team playing a slow pace playing 7 players may work well.
Your statement was quite general and MOST teams MOST games play 8 or more players and rarely play anyone 35 much less several players.
