We aren't even close to bringing in the type of four year recruits we would need to be a legit tourney team. All you have to do is win the MAC Tournment to be a tourney team. Okay, how close have we been to that ?

I am going to have to disagree with halftime on this one. I think some team will reach and give him a shot. Im not sure it would be a great move for what ever school it might be but I really believe it will happen. Im not thinking it will be a power house team but more of a lateral move to a school who will pay more. The question we will then have is to we pony up and pay 400-500 for a "better" version of whit.. Spend 260-300 on a reroll and hope for the best or promote Grunk and give him 325-350 Look how long it took Dambrot and he is far more successful than Whitford.

Thats a good point and you are correct. I just have a feeling its coming

If I am Ball State I don't even think I would offer him a contract extension at this point. He just doesn't move the needle with fans or alumni.

And many only will move if we meet very high expectations, possibly a task no coach will meet without big investment.

We have the best facilities in the MAC and are located right in the middle of one of the nations best recruiting bases. There is no excuse for his mediocre recruiting. He just hasn't built-up any excitement around this program.

Not sure what you think is possible.
Winning of course a plus. We are now winning. Could do better. How much? What cost?
How much difference does it make? At the margin?
I'm concerned about our market. My point is that we don't know how fans will react, where they are, how many, whether they'll respond.

Here is one of whits Mains problems people do not care about him because he has made no effort to to try and connect with anyone. If he had any personal connection to the fan base or anyone else people might care more. He is just that guy who coaches Ball State nothing more to anyone.

The other option is he gets some lateral offers and decides that as long as he stays around the 20 win mark and is competitive thats probably enough to keep him employed forever

Personally doesn’t lend itself to that kind of activity in my opinion. He cares deeply for his players and appears that’s returned. Just doesn’t have that outgoing warmth.

He is expecting his best offers to come after this year, so I'd say if they come, he will bolt. We will likely struggle next year.

Hunsaker wasn’t much of a “glad hander” off the court, either. Probably one of the reason they found it so easy to throw him under the bus

Probably one of the reason they found it so easy to throw him under the bus I can still remember students being interviewed after Dick was fired and them saying they didn’t like him and he wasn’t a good coach. Smh.
