Also big bounce-back game by Vinny yesterday! He looked like he was striking the ball much better, actual end-over-end kicks instead of the helicopters he'd been booting the previous month.

That's a pretty damn impressive block right there, coming all the way across the line to get him.

He seems to be not only an aggressive very quick beast but also a smart lineman. Plays like a vet. Adjusts and reacts like he's done it for years.

Well that was pathetic. Bad game plan. Brissett afraid to throw downfield. DBs lost in coverage. It’s like the colts weren’t all that interested in trying to win.

That's a pretty damn impressive block right there, coming all the way across the line to get him. Ok, so one of eleven defenders was prevented from making a play. That's nice.
What some of you don't understand is the value of the #6 pick in the draft. For the same draft value, the Colts could have drafted TWO mid 1st round wide receivers….a vastly more impactful position. When a WR makes a stand out play, it often means 6 points on the scoreboard....not just one of eleven defenders blocked. Possibly you noticed last night that the colts offense is starved for impact WR's? If Hilton isn't playing and playing well, the colts are at a huge disadvantage to almost everyone else in the league in WR quality. Hilton is often injured these days. Hilton is getting pretty old. Even if Hilton is playing, think how his productivity would be helped if the colts has just one other receiver that scared people.
Some of you like to continually point out that Nelson is a high-quality offensive guard. But: 1) that's not in dispute. 2) it's beside the point 3) it illustrates that you aren't getting the essentials of the discussion 4) it flatters your view of yourself as someone who gets the finer points of football.
Hopefully you guys will get a Nelson highlight from last night that makes you feel smart. Meanwhile the colts got 129 yds and no TD's passing and therefore lost a key game.

Don’t forget that Funches and Campbell are hurt, Hilton isn’t 100% and Cain didn’t pan out. When the season started it looked like the Colts had playmakers at WR. In hindsight yeah, it’s obvious they needed to do more at WR.

In hindsight yeah, it’s obvious they needed to do more at WR. It looked like the colts had plenty of playmakers? maybe if you used kid-style wishful thinking. Funches is a mediocre non-explosive roster name. Campbell was a rookie who wasn't all that productive at OSU (and who seems to have a lot of difficulty holding on to the ball). Cain had never played a NFL down and was coming off major knee surgery.
It's been obvious Hilton needs a partner for a long time now. But high draft capital goes into the interior O line instead. And now....the consequences.

You like to flatter your own views on your knowledge of the finer points of football too, so don't try to pretend like you're not exactly the same as the rest of us, you simply hold a contrary opinion to the majority (doesn't make you right, smart, or in any way better by the way). The fact is if any of us actually possessed knowledge of the finer points of football we wouldn't be posting on a mid-major college's message board. There is a finite amount of draft capital, cap room, and roster space. No team is exceptional in every area, no team is even great in every area. All teams have deficiencies, be them O-line, LBs, safeties, RBs, WRs or if you're the Miami Dolphins the deficiencies start with the owner and go all the way down to the water boy (which makes losing to them that much harder to swallow). The Colts decided to sacrifice WR depth to create a top-5 rushing attack, which they have done. The team just rushed for 175 yards with a 4th string running back as their main option, not a lot of NFL teams can do that. That decision making comes with a sacrifice, in this case it's a lack of WR depth. You can't look back and say, well the front office should have known that Hilton was going to be injured, Funchess was going to break his collar bone in the very first catch of the season, Parris Campbell, a guy who ran the fastest 40 time at the combine, was going to battle injuries all season, that Cain (who for better or worse everyone in the Colts organization was high on, right up until the point that they weren't) was going to shit the bed, that Ebron's club hands were going to rear their ugly head again, and that their all-world QB was going to retire a week and a half before the season. I think, going into the season, most people in NFL circles would have rated the Colts WRs as top 15 in the league with Hilton, Funchess, Campbell, and some combination of Pascal/Rogers/Cain as the 4th WR. Not a group that's going to break records, but a solid group that would help contribute to wins. What we've seen is Pascal and Rogers become the #1 and #2 options due to unexpected injuries, and that's just how the NFL goes sometimes. Also your assumption that simply drafting a WR was going to make up for that depth is simplistic at best and asinine at worst. There have been just as many (probably more) first round WR busts as there have been successful WRs. The average pick for a WR from 2015-2017 was 15.5 (13 WRs drafted), yet the average receiving yards per season for those 13 WRs was 320 yards. Hardly world beating numbers, or for reference 40 yards fewer than Zach Pascal has put up so far this season. I also don't think it's fair to assume the Colts would be the same rushing team if they'd used the #6 pick to snag those two mid-round WRs and got a guard either somewhere else in the draft or in free agency. Disregard it if you want, but when the other 3 starting linemen who were here pre-Q (leaving out Smith who was in the same draft class) have all said that Nelson has changed the culture, intensity, and activity on that front 5 means something. These are multi-year pros who are saying Nelson is "that guy". I've not taken a stance either way on whether or not Q was the right pick. He's the best or second-best G in the league, that's undeniable, but the Colts also have deficiencies that could have potentially been filled by trading down and stock-piling picks. Your steadfast refusal to engage in a discussion, and instead shout at the clouds how right you are and how dumb everyone else is just makes you look like a Boomer. I'm sure you'll tell me how stupid all this was, but I'm just sitting here enjoying watching Butler get Morehead (wait, that came out wrong...or did it?) and I hope you enjoy your weekend too, General.

Colts are done. Terrible. Special teams like Ball State. They might as well lose out at this point.
