Is The Kid really counting this game toward his march to fifteen? Absolutely! Why not? As I recall the conversation leading to "the bet" those betting against BSU were VERY confident that we would not even get close to 15. When kid said 15, the negative nabobs were in two camps, one camp scurrying away without the courage of their confident negativity, and the other blustering that 15 was a completely safe bet. So, if I were so confident then about prediction of gloom and doom, I suggest that one win should be no big deal. If someone made the blustery bet with such disdain for our potential, and is now getting worried about the bet, and gripes about countingthe win... anybody who just wants to dodge the bet, I don't feel sorry. If the kid is gnashing his teeth as the Cards flail away trying to get to 15, I don't feel sorry, either, but have some admiration for him putting up the bet. Those who made a gentleman's bet are bound on it and we should give both sides some credit even if they are out to take your fine liquor, they at least show some conviction, more than all those who disappeared into the shadows rather than make the bet.

I ALWAYS make good on my bets. I just wanted to see if there was ANY shame in THE KID'S game.

I have 4 1/2 bottles of Eagle Rare in my liquor cabinet and I am saving one for The Kid just in case the Cardinals defeat the Cougars on their march to fifteen.

I was so confident in the bet I did not ask The Kid to put up ANYTHING. If I win, I win NOTHING EXCEPT FOR BRAGGING RIGHTS. ''The March'' is what I am calling it from now on. It is the only thing that might keep my interest the entire season. This should be fun.

Anyone remember Cardinal Strich under Majerus and Hunsaker? I think Rick did that as a favor, but still. Was this original schedule or a late replacement for Utah? Either way, the loss of the Utah game hurt. Cardinal Stritch was NCAA DIII when Majerus and Hunsaker scheduled them. They are now NAIA, and the college is run by the Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi. So, 1) it was a better opponent than NAIA in the day, and 2) there is a close Little Sisters of the Poor tie-in.

Wasn't Cardinal Stritch part of the Spanish Inquisition?

I ALWAYS make good on my bets. I just wanted to see if there was ANY shame in THE KID'S game. I see that! I doubt there is any shame, though, he probably didn't even have to look at the schedule and who we played, he has unbridled optimism and enthusiasm! We need a little more of that in the fan base, not that our gloomy outlook isn't one that is understandable after so many years. I don't want to exactly celebrate getting back to the middle of the pack, that isn't the ultimate goal. But, we shouldn't go too far in the opposite direction and become depressed when we don't win them all or say that a championship run is the only thing that pleases us. Not this year anyway. A coach that restores us to credibility deserves a little credit. When I see a team that can compete with most teams this year, and get better through the year and into next, given where we have been, that is an accomplishment. With all the times I have had to watch us lose at home, especially, I look forward to walking out of Worthen with a win or two or twelve this year.

We probably won't have enough wins to quite be really satisfied, a little side show or side bet livens things up.

Valparaiso beat IU Kokomo by 38 points just recently. Our margin of victory may indicate how close the Valparaiso game will be. Evidently Valparaiso did not have a problem with scheduling them.

Iu Kokomo played a lot of zone defense in the second half against Valpo.

Hey Kid, I hear the sixth grade boys B- team at Burris is looking for contest mid-season. Call Coach and see if you guys can schedule something. I bet Vegas would make BSU a ten point favorite.
