If mid-majors dropped football, there would be some awesome women's soccer stadiums in the NCAA. Just sayin' This reminds me of something funny. A few years back during the whole Kaepernick thing, attention-seeking dipshit womens soccer player Megan Rapinoe started taking a knew during the anthem before her women's pro league games. Reading this article, I wondered why they included a picture of her kneeling in practice. Why not one from that game? Then I realized....Oh, it was the game.

This photo tells ma few things. A: Rapinoe is an idiot. B: Nobody gives a shit about women's soccer, unless it's the World Cup Final C: Look at where she is. She made sure to position herself a few feet in front of everyone else. "Look at me! I'm woke! Look at me! SOMEONE LOOK AT ME DAMMIT!!!"

Wow! That is the bsu that made it to the big time it seemed. What does taking a 10 day furlough really accomplish? You'd be surprised. It comes out to between a 4 to 4.5% payroll reduction (the math is 52 weeks x 5 working days - 25 vacation days = 235 working days). Ball State's payroll is roughly $150mm (guessing here), meaning a realized savings of $6-7mm. Boise State could be saving several million dollars by doing this, which could lop off 1/3 to 1/4 of what they are trying to recover. I think we are going to see similar measures at BSU. I read where the president is collecting info and will make some decisions by Mid May.

It’s gonna hit all universities. But will the Sabans of the world be willing to give up millions, if not hundreds of thousands?

"People complain that pro athletes make a lot of money; but what they don't understand is that we need a lot of money because we spend a lot of money." - Patrick Ewing I think Saban feels the same. BTW, Ewing took Economics classes at Georgetown with many of our "political elite."

The MAC has been dysfunctional for a long time now. The schools were just goading and racing each other into expenditures none could really afford.
Sentimentality, a false sense of status, and well-connected supporters have always trumped sensible financial thinking....up to now.

So after reading other MAC school blogs it appears most of the schools are facing the same monetary problems. I do not see the attendance figures increasing in the next 25 yrs. Therefore it is in the university's best interest to drop athletics to a club basis in all but the sports that draw seasonal attendance that exceeds 800 or so. Those sports that produce money the university could pay coaches for.The salaries for the coaches would be based on the revenue of that sport. The majority of those coaches would probably come from university instructors along the same lines as is currently done at junior colleges & high schools. Athletic scholarships would probably end unless sponsors endowed them.
Currently the NCAA allows some colleges to play Division 1 in a single sport as along as they give the same number of scholarships to both women & men. Thus if the University could make enough money to cover the scholarships & coaches they could maintain D 1 basketball teams.Colorado College does this with a mens D1 hockey program & womens soccer & all other sports are at D 3 level.

Can we pull the plug on the indoor boondoggle or have the footers already been dug?
