A really messed-up article on Jones and Windham. It is my understanding that Jones IS NOT a grad transfer. I don't believe he has his degree and I'm guessing they will use the CoVID hardship as the reason in their petition....A word of caution on these guys and any other signees. Past history would tell us it takes a year or more in the "process" to be a reliable and significant contributor. Coleman was FOY, but keep in mind he redshirted so he had a full year of acclimation. Some period of adjustment tends to be true for all transfers and new players at any school. I'd say less than year is required. Jones has some experience at making a transition. That should help.
The more talented the player the less true this need is. Post players seem to take a little time unless very good freshmen. Moses was an exception. Coleman despite all the negativity about his recruitment in some quarters here last year, looked good in practice by mid season.
When I look at the history and remember watching transfers play in their red shirt year, or good freshmen play in their first year, it is not universally true it took a year. We have had several good upperclassmen transfers who would have played immediately if allowed. Thomas was probably a little unusual in not being as ready as we expected. But he was an underclassman transfer, perhaps not as talented or mature as Windham where your caution may be more true.

Don't forget we're losing a summer of these guys attending open gyms and etc. with the existing roster, so that makes the transition a little longer.

I believe we will have a better record than this past season with a similar schedule toughness....I'm not sure if we'll be better but I personally think we will win more games not counting the MAC tournament.

We won’t be a better team but we’ll win more games. I’m all for it, want yo understand how that works.

OK, I'll bite. So who are the "go to" guys on next year's team? This year it was Teague, Ish and Mallers (all gone) and by year end Boogie had the ball in his hands most of the time, sometimes with sloppy results. I think your hypothesis is ludicrous. Teague, Mallers, Ish & Thompson combined for 422 games played and 223 starts. Here's the same for our returnees: Walton 72 games 52 starts Coleman 31 games 25 starts (all last year) Bumb 31 games 23 starts (all last year) Hazen 47 games 4 starts Gunn 52 games 0 starts Thomas 18 games 0 starts (all last year) Acree 25 games 0 starts (all last year) Huggins 17 games 1 start Hendricks 7 games 0 starts Transfer Reggie Jones is inarguably the most experienced guy on our roster and has never played in our system. Windham has 16 games in his collegiate career at 6 minutes a game. What am I missing?

That may make up for one inured player. Should be in the mix of a 3G scheme. Play some SF.

I don't know what our policy is on their scholarships. Most obviously shared scholarship to start with.

Why is this thread pinned to the top of the list? Excellent question, could it be Windham is the one Covid-19 positive test for a BSU student athlete for the week ending January 17th, 2021? For the distinction of being the only positive test of 178 student athletes tested for the 7 days ending on January 17th, 2021 his thread is awarded a pinning at the top?
