I've always been impressed with Rocco and could get behind that hire if that's the decision.

While Chip Kelly would be an amazing hire ... he is also WAY out of our price range .... I'm sticking with Rocco

If it were me I would offer kelly him a mill plus and sign him to a 3 year contract but make the buy out something stupid like 10 million. Then let some big school come in and scoop him up after next year. We get some publicity and and 8 million or so in the bank

A couple of months into it, a P5 school would get antsy and fire their coach and throw money at him. It would be a detriment because BSU would be richer but even less stable because they'd have to go and search again. It will interesting to see what he does but he has plenty of choices including doing nothing.

He'll end up with the Tennessee Titans and Marcus Mariota.

It's irrelevant as I would assume he and his agent aren't idiots and would never sign a contract like that.

Ah, Rich Harris strikes again. He's railed against athletics at BSU for a long time. (not that I don't disagree with hiring an up and coming coach for less since it won't matter how much we win, the stadium will be half full and we'll pay to play in a bowl game)

Is his 18 month show-cause penalty from the NCAA over anyway?

I think you're right that it'll be somebody not mentioned, as is usually the case for us. Pete was as far off the radar as you could get.

Incidentally, the staff at NIU is apparently disintegrating. Football Scoop says there are "issues."

MAC football can't go on much longer at the pace it is setting for spending.
