The real key is do the colleges go back to in class school. My guess after making a 1500 mile trip over the past 4 days to a college graduation is that lots of kids will get the virus right now. Its the ultimate red vs blue showdown. I don't think their will be a 2020 college football season.

Hold the phone. Now reports are the big 10 has not yet held a vote. Either they are lying, or they floated a trial ballon and didn’t like the backlash. No official word yet. Meetings run until 6:00 pm CDT today.

From FootballScoop:
Big Ten: Kirk Herbstreit tweeted this evening that the B1G is now not planning to cancel the season; but is expected to delay the start. Good job players & coaches.

Could get real nasty if they play and some players get real sick with complications. Parents won’t take it well.

Could get real nasty if they play and some players get real sick with complications. Parents won’t take it well. Not to mention kids going home with the bug and family getting really sick. Testing could prevent that if turn around was fast. The problem is worse for regular students and it's really going to bear watching as the students go home on weekends and at Thanksgiving when everyone goes home at what may be a peak of a second wave anyway. If school lasts that long on campus. Then we can start thinking about Spring semester... In a lot of possible scenarios that may start on line.

My college daughter is required to get tested before returning to school. I think, in order to receive credit for their fall class work, they should be required to get tested again before break. I think that would actually save more lives

I’ve heard coaches argue that the athletes are safer at school with the team than if they were out on their own because they have all the protocols in place. There may be some truth to that.

Harbaugh at UofM released a letter earlier on Monday strongly supporting for playing the fall season; he listed some supporting data (from FootballScoop): "Harbaugh lays out some data on why he’s advocating for the season to move forward.
Among the reasons, he lists the following facts from the UM program over the past eight weeks:
11 positive test out of 893 administered (including 3 upon initial arrivals to campus) Zero positive tests out of the last 353 administered Zero positive tests among coaches and staff for the past 8 weeks No contract tracing to the fields, weight room, locker room, or football facility Zero pauses in their training"There also seems to be support from among players to support fall football: footballscoop.com/news/players-unite-behind-wewanttoplay-movement/

So the Big Ten is now still going to play a fall season??
“Big Ten swings and misses on a brand-damaging Monday, looking dumb and weak“

The college presidents, administrations, and coaches may regret their decision if and when the television stations show 5 or 10 players that contract the virus, die, and show sheet covered bodies being wheeled out of the hospitals to funeral homes.
