When I saw it was a weird injury to a Cleveland Indian I was sure it would be Plesac. He is 26 but does not appear to have grown up. Hopefully he learns from this.

I have a friend who went to high school with him and my buddy said Pleasc was just as big of a goof there as he was at BSU and is now with Cleveland. To have the God given talent to play pro ball but to not have your head on straight now at this age? Sheesh!

it's not like he rammed his head or his hand into a brick wall or got a hernia tipping cows. And I'm sure neither he nor anyone on this board ever got the advice from their mother/coach/financial advisor: "Don't take off your shirt that way. You'll break your thumb."
It's a freak accident. Shit happens.

We're more commenting on the stupid stunts over time rather than just this one incident. A major league pitcher can't do dumb stuff, even like take a shirt off angrily given their livelihood is based on arms/shoulders/hands. Did Crash Davis in Bull Durham not teach you anything? |

Not even Crash Davis said "Never disrobe in anger." Now Annie Savoy? She might have said that. ... but she'd also have him breathing out of the wrong eyelid.

Plesac's 2nd start at Akron (July 3) was much better than the 1st. He gave up a run on a lead off homer in the 3 innings he pitched. He fanned 4 while he gave up 1 walk & 1 other hit. Threw 43 pitches. Next start probably will be Friday or Saturday again with a limit on innings or pitches.
