By the way, one of my daughters was in gymnastics for a few years, but got out of it by maybe around the 4th or 5th grade. I was very glad. Partly because of the injury potential. Also because it was excruciatingly boring. She would perform at meets for a grand total of about maybe 3 minutes. But you would sit around in bleachers for hours and hours between events. If you have young kids, avoid gymnastics if at all possible. My daughters too. One persisted until injury finished her career. Traveling to meets really is a pain. Nightly taxi duty to practice no fun either. I'm told swimming is worse.

Between Osaka claiming anxiety and now Biles quitting because of mental pressure, this group of athletes and coaches like Popovich are enough to make you puke. The Olympics is the pinnacle for the majority of these athletes. It is supposed to be pressure-packed, difficult, mentally-taxing and everything else rolled into one. You are competing to be the best in the entire world at something.
Osaka was a loud-mouth poster child for BLM and social justice last year and took every opportunity on social media and mainstream media to spout her views and now that she's been ripped royally by her critics she has anxiety over speaking to the media. She was the torchbearer for Japan in these games and promptly got ousted, cited pressure. No kidding? Biles has cashed in like no one else in her sport or anyone in this Olympics on her fame and notoriety. She's a veteran and the most decorated female gymnast of all time. Feeling like the face of America? So did Phelps, Retton and a host of other Americans over the years. If you've lost a bit of your edge or aren't at the top of your game, you quit? I'm sorry but that's just horseshit.
EVERY high level athlete, male/female/non-binary/transgender/pansexual (vomit) in EVERY high-profile sport feels anxiety and has mental stress and throws up and freaks out and they have for decades! Except now, we must first turn to our inner "feels" with no fear that the mainstream media will roast us for giving up. No worries there kiddo, instead you are COURAGEOUS and a HERO for quitting or not speaking with the media or kneeling or turning your back on the flag or saying we should change our flag or fill in the blank. Anything and everything is OK now. Except kneeling to pray (Tebow), or policing our streets, or protecting the unborn, or promoting the nuclear family, or two genders, or...

I'm going to withhold judgement on Biles for the time being. She may have some legit mental issues. Her full sibling brother apparently shot and killed 3 guys at a party.
However the media is asking too much to sell her as simultaneously being the greatest thing since sliced bread, and someone who is justified to quit on the team in the middle of the Olympics.

In her comments, I see a notable lack of whininess and no inclination to blame and scapegoat other people for her problems. It must be very tempting to engage in that sort of thing, knowing that the establishment media would back it to the hilt and amplify it. They would love, love, LOVE to have a narrative like that to push as the story of this Olympics. Why she said only her teammates won silver: "I didn't do my job. They came out and they stepped up, and they did what they needed to do and more — especially last minute. Suni [Lee] didn't even get to warm up her floor passes until the 30-second touch. So this medal is all of them and the coaches — and it has nothing to do with me, because they did it without me." link

I think she dropped from the All around but hasn't decided on whether she will compete in the individuals which start Sunday. Right now my give a shit meter for the Olympics is officially zero for the remainder of the games.

I think it is totally insane what she did and there is no excuse for it.
On the other hand, I totally get it and support her in her decision.

I'm seeing a lot of typically idiotic commentary from the woke, skin color obsessed, establishment media, but Biles herself seems like a reasonable young lady.....from what I have seen.

Loss of live coverage has to be big part of it.
