Easy to understand the reaction to injury, desire to be a family man, and the attraction of grad school. Don't quite get the ed degree and HS coaching career goal. He has so many choices. He also had a choice to shave off that ugly neck hair and he didn't.

Definitely time to stop playing Ryan.
1) he's playing quite poorly and is in the process of falling off the age cliff. He's bad, very much trending downward, and is likely to be really historically terrible if played next year. 2) I understand that if he is seriously injured, the colts will not be able to get out of paying him a large, salary cap disrupting amount of money next year, on top of the huge contracts already given to low impact players. Put Ryan in a safe closet in bubble wrap. 3) Despite how poorly he is playing, he may actually give the colts the best chance to win because or how badly Ballard has bungled the most important position on the field. and the colts cant afford any more wins. There is ZERO chance of making the playoffs and any more wins accomplish absolutely nothing besides degrading their draft positon.
But who is going to make this adult decision? The drug-addled idiot owner? The GM who is to blame for the whole mess? The coach who is auditioning for the permanent job? (see #3)
It's a very stupid and aggravating situation.

Pretty damn good week for the colts with Carolina, Detroit, Jville, LAR picking up wins. A Cardinals win tomorrow would be nice and seems doable hosting the Pats.
I'm back to being cautiously optimistic about a top 5 pick

Ballard has made some good decision. He generally did well with the defense, except for that part where a strong running game and adequate QB could actually keep them off the the field to get a breath, and even make the other team play from behind sometimes...
Ballard seems to have put the blame on Reich for the two hand picked QB's he wanted, and Irsay's experiment as a GM with his coaching choice may make him hesitate in using his judgment?

I'm thinking a top 5 pick ensures us to have our pick of the litter at the long snapper position. Maybe even one who paints his face and yells on the field and starts fights in practice!!

Surely the Colts executed to plan? That was horrible.

Now we can happily sit back and hopefully watch some of the teams ahead of the colts play their way out of the colts path to a higher pick.
Cards and Broncos play each other, so one has to win. The Saints are actually favored by 4 Bears and Rams are solid dogs, but you never know.

General: What good is a higher draft pick if management and coaching cannot appropriately use the pick to win games?

General: What good is a higher draft pick if management and coaching cannot appropriately use the pick to win games? I'm thinking (hoping) there will be new faces at GM and coach next year. Of course that leaves the Irsay problem, but he did somehow stumble his way into Bill Polian one time.

What the shit happened today?
I wasn’t able to watch the game, just saw that we were up 33-0 at the half, then lost in OT.
Da fuq?

You can probably think of individual GM quarterback decisions worse than what Ballard has made (e.g. Ryan Leaf, JaMarcus Russel) but how many GM's have made two consecutive disastrous QB decisions like Ballard has.
