What a disaster of a franchise now.

Not surprised. Yesterday was about as bad as I've seen the Colts.
Wondering if Ballard will be gone shortly.

Of course some of this is Irsay and the desire to SOMETHING, and if not just punitive, it takes some heat off in the short term. It is very unlikely that the change brings short term change, and surely has some long term costs.
A coach is more expendable than a GM in a lot of ways. A new GM is saddled with a lot of the "vision" of his successor, and whatever happened with the execution of that vision, I don't see Irsay too happy with a complete rebuild. There is no quick fix in a new GM. I guess we'll see.

The interim coach is... Jeff Saturday???
If I woke up tomorrow with my head sewn to the carpet, I couldn't be more surprised.

Well, now when Peyton Manning screams at Saturday "Hey, are you calling the fucking plays now Jeff?" Saturday can say "yes I am."
But this seems like a nutty Irsay call to me. When I hear Saturday as a radio/TV analyst, he sounds adequate for that, but I'm not especially impressed.

Irsay is trying to keep the fan base interested through the end of the season. Saturday is a fan favorite that will keep butts in the seats. This is nothing but a PR/Marketing move.

Consider that they fired the OC several weeks ago and Reich was both HC and OC, are they going to have Saturday actually calling the plays? Good God.

This is a case of Irsay thinking "If we win, I look like a genius. If we lose, we get a high draft pick (probably a QB)."

Sounds like the QB coach will be calling the offense.

I remember hearing Saturday on the radio earlier this year saying that they had to pay Nelson big big money because he's so super good and a leader of the offensive line and sets the tone for the team and blah blah blah.
I just rolled my eyes a little because...what do you expect from an ex-interior offensive lineman talking to fill radio time? But my concern now is that he actually believes that sort of bullshit.

A big problem is that Ballard doesn't have the leverage of a successful track record to tell Irsay to back off. That was the great thing about Polian. He had the experience and success, to the point where if Irsay told him to do something he didn't want to, Polian could counter it.
