Correct. Similar to the game last night at Ohio; seems to be a preparation issue. 20 to 9 fouls was pretty lopsided. Some MAC home cooking - happens a lot at Toledo. Good to have Becki back. Lack of play by Richard and Rauch and Shafer showed up in the forth quarter. We looked tired. When the game was still winnable the foul and ft disparity was ridiculous. Sallee was steamed at the half. But, we gotta play better. Depth did not pay off tonight. Need to get quicker/more athletic. UT guards abused us. This what I hate about basketball, we have seen this before especially in the MAC, where the difference is the game is the one-sided officiating that controls the game. The disparity in the fouls and free throws were obvious and determined the winner. I would think that the MAC would review these games and make changes, but as we have seen, nothing ever happens.

I didn't think that Richard played at all. We have to stop dribble penetration. We did in the third quarter but Toledo really came back strong the 4th. Toledo is really good and so are we. The team was really hacked to death on many layups. Clephane really cost us a couple of times. We have to value the ball better and yes finish a lay up. We were not blown out by Toledo nor out classed. Marie K. Becki and Thelma are classy. We have to fix some things and I don't think there will be that much disparity in fouls called next time. Yes Lockwood is good hit about every shot. Not too hard when they are lay ups. At times they out fought us for loose balls. We must rebound better next time. I thought Shafer did ok. If we had in the 4th started putting up a bunch of 3s we would have gotten beaten 20pts. Miami beat Kent last night giving Miami their 6th win. We had not have a let down with them

The missed layups are something I noticed last year (I think I even mentioned it in a game thread somewhere), and it is maddening.
Gotta make the bunnies!

Not sure why those are such a problem for us. We don’t play through contact well enough I guess.

The women play tonight at Buffalo. 6pm start ESPN + Things got a little interesting in the handshake line after the Cards’ win. Sallee had some words with the Buffalo coach, and one of the Buffalo players looked like she was going to swing at him. You could see it at the end of the ESPN broadcast. It was a hard fought win, closer than the final score indicated.

Yes it was close the fist 3quarters because of poor BSU defense lapses. But that 4th quarter was something else.Outscored the Bulls 30-10 and just shut them down. Need to do this the first quarter also. Also saw the after game altercation. The Buffalo player put her hand in Brady's face. They were mad I think because the BSU guard took a final shot at the basket with about 14 seconds remaining. Notre Dame didn't have a problem running up the score on us and I don't have a problem beating these other MAC teams the same way. Brady did however put the subs in with 1:48 to go. Central Michigan is next.

Yeah, the intentional fouls sequence was baffling, but not being there, I don't know what happened. Sounds like people that WERE there didn't know, either, including the announcers.
The officiating was pretty bad. That's why Sallee gets on them. If he knows a ref is weak, he's going to manipulate them. That's what coaches do.
Something tells me there's been something simmering between Sallee and Burke since last year's MAC final. There's some bad blood there. But the player getting in his face should be dealt with. That's a problem that will only get worse if they don't say something to her.

Buffalo has a gripe about the officials and so do we. The charging calls drive me nuts. If you read other message boards the bitch about the officials is wide spread. The big assistant for Buffalo went after the girl who stuck her finger in Brady's face. Real question about who initiated the comment between Brady and Burke. I really didn't like for 3 quarters the disinterested no communication defense that we played.

Lady Chirps are taking it to Akron tonight. Up 29 at one point, up 21 going into the 4th quarter.

Yes the BSU Women did to Akron what Buffalo did to our men's team. I think Akron had only lost one conference game with four players in double figures.

Akron’s record is very deceiving. They played a very soft non conference schedule and are a very average MAC team which most MAC teams are. Only good teams in the MAC this year are BSU, Toledo and Bowling Green. BSU will win the MAC this season. The MAC tournament in Cleveland will be up for grabs. BSU has lost in the 1st round 7 of the past 8 years and hopefully can get over the hump this year!
