What does Grunk bring to the table? See nothing but an extension of the Whitford seddling..uh coaching tree. That hopefully has been pruned. He has been around the program a lot, has a lot of connections in the MAC I assume, probably has a lot of recruiting connections. Who knows? he may have made a few more in South Carolina. He will also bring some more energy after a year off from college.

Grunk doesn't work at IUPUI Yes I realized that after I posted but didn't change it or correct my post.

What would make Grunk an attractive candidate? He isn't one in my book.

I watched Darner at Anderson Highland. Had a sweet soft shot. Have no idea what kind of a head coach he was or is. How was he as an assistant with the players etc. From the little that i gathered from the internet and watched, that he wins he has won everywhere he has been. I know he snapped Green Bay’s NCAA drought and that he won a National Championship. Watched a YouTube video of him against Bellermine in the semifinal game of D2 National Championship and that style would reenergize the fan base and bring a completely different product on the floor to Worthen Arena. I also watched him, his brother, sister, and his father(coach) in high school and the competitive apple didn’t fall from the tree. He certainly knows the game. Never did get much of an idea why he left GB. The Jenkins brothers from Central and the kid from Pendleton all played for him down at Fl Southern. All of them really speak highly of his style and approach to the game. Loved playing for him.

I don't know he has a sweet gig in SC might not even be interested. Yeah but... the head job at Ball State? Come on. Who wouldn't leave a high school job on the beach, to go back to Indiana and freeze every winter? If our AD tries to hire the lead assistant of the guy we just fired, she should be fired. What an idiotic suggestion.

This quote from the StarPress article... Throwing this in to his post-game interview really reeked of knowing what was about to occur. Also, best team since the 19th century... I mean, that was a pretty good team... easily Whit's best. I could make a joke about 19th century, but I'm giving benefit of the doubt that he obviously meant 20th century and misspoke. But it wasn't that long ago. I still remember that that team was only 18-13 (11-7), co-winning a super weak MAC West, where only two teams had winning records. "We were elite." LOL. I don't remember this "elite defense" "best defensive team in the history of the conference" bit either. Certainly better than this year's defense, but elite and best ever in the MAC? 1990 team would have dusted that team on both ends of the floor, even after suffering their traditional "Ball State has not scored in the last 6 minutes" drought that occurred often that year. Amen Swen! Now I’m pissed at him again and it cements why he needed shit canned. That’s a comment from someone praying no one remembers what our really good teams were like.

I wish Grunk well but he would be well served to return to college coaching with a fresh start too at another school.

Especially with him sticking his hands under his arms all the time

I’m an outsider and have zero insight into things but from my vantage point Beth is really good at her job.
To me, we aren’t going to get the bigger, exceptional athletes, even comparable to Akron or Kent. Too many want to go with the NBA style 3 ball, surely because that’s what kids now want to play. My guess is we can’t recruit kids who hits 3s at a decent enough clip to justify the style. I say we get kids who run & jump / press. Pitino style. Norm Held style. Relentless pressure. We get kids who play hard and play better than their size, we will both win and put people in seats. What I call classic college basketball.

You did hear that Whitford is out?
