Reading between the lines, I get the feeling that Woodson might be a little insecure. Indiana had some issues with discipline and honestly, looked a little unorganized at times. Fife being a head coach previously and being on the bench at Michigan State bench brings a different perspective to "todays" acceptable behaviors. My take exactly. |

That is exactly what I was alluding! I absolutely believe this to be the case. I like the idea of having a coach who is very disciplined. I am not a big fan of Fife but I believe he should be interviewed. Record is not good at IPFW but you saw improvement yearly. I want to see this program draw the very best candidates out there. |

I think Dane was vocal about some things and Woodson did not like it. Fife was on Izzo's staff for 10 years without a problem. Again, I am not saying the guy would be a good fit here, I am simply saying that he should be interviewed. I honestly think Woodson is very insecure and was not willing to listen to his assistants. IU looked very un-organized in many games this year and especially after time outs.

I don't understand the love for Darner. His record at BG was only .535, hardly a record that BSU should be interested in. He didn't turn the program around, win championships or things we should be looking at. Is it continuation of what we have now, player retention or what? I understood the desire for Whit being fired midyear and Darner taking over. But now we need a clean start, someone who can fire up the fan base. Darner seems blaise. Because he has a very different background than Buckley, Ronnie, and Whitford who were all assistant coaches for the majority of their careers prior to Ball State. Darner was very successful in Division 2 and has 18 years of head coaching experience. Darner wasn't great at Wisc GB but he wasn't terrible either. Did get them to the NCAAs once. Id be all for interviewing someone like Jim Christian who has a track record of prior success in the MAC, in matter of fact I'd take Christian or a similar ex MAC coach(with success) over Darner. However, he has to be willing to work under BSUs budget of around 300k a yr. I'm not interested in hiring another Whitford or Ronnie who on paper has a solid track record as an assistant because for most part of 20+ years, that's just inside the box of the type of candidate BSU has hired. |

The only people he listens to are “consultants” not on staff. His two dudes on staff who can recruit are only there for that. Fife was not remotely a fit with any of that, especially having spent so much time with Izzy, who is very structured and demanding. Don’t think Fife would be a good fit at bsu either and quite honestly I think he thinks he’s better than A MAC Program. |

Darner has won several championships over his career, one being the National Championship something we haven’t done in a very long time. He recruited the kid out of Ohio that transferred to Missouri in the middle of MAC territory. |
