What? No incentive for CIT victories? Surely Whit had that in his contract. That was his biscuits and gravy, his bread and butter, his meat and potatoes...

About time. Pay to play. Are we middle of the MAC pack? We are above the middle. But not great for the better mid majors we aspire to compare.
Overall it looks like we found the money to be competitive for the better MAC BB coaches, good MAC salary for candidates available without past MAC or higher HC experience. It helped to target a coach with desire to return to Indiana.
Notably higher is Boals, at Ohio almost 600K base salary reportedly. When you look at MAC figures, Groce stands out as a bargain with his prior HC experience. This salary should match his base, and is comparable base to other top MAC programs.(without knowing the latest hiring offers and any pending contract extensions.) This is what buyout is usually based on.
Base salary is not the only money term, incentives vary for various accomplishments, all of ours are not as good. but these seem comparable overall. The real reward for accomplishments is an extension with a raise. Or of course moving on...
Other income outside the base varies, including for TV shows, camps, etc, ours has usually been lower total than top programs.
The one that should interest us since it has been a point of contention for past coaches is assistant pool. It's not easy to tell how that pool compares. Rob posted a figure that is probably not at the top, but a bit higher than for Whitford.
This was definitely not a Sherman Plan salary.
Where the money came from and how it impacts other coaching salaries for us remains to be seen. It resembles what we were able to do with Neu. His salary and assistant pool is obviously larger, but was not exorbitant by MAC standards for FB, and our commitment to FB with his hire probably had something to do with Whitford's last extension.

Well guys and gals it looks like he has got a sense of humor. Let's see if he can recruit two legitimate Division-1 players per year and turn this program into a contender and NOT a pretender.

He's got some personality. We'll see his sideline coaching involve some emotion and a lot of shots of him shouting, not just thoughtfully watching.
When he is a wise ass, and he is at times, although no Dan Dakich, we'll love him. He'll be our wise ass.

From my understanding a donor helped with Whitford’s buy out and Lewis’s/staff contracts…

From my understanding a donor helped with Whitford’s buy out and Lewis’s/staff contracts… yep That would explain why they didn't wait until May 1st when it would have been cheaper. Always easier to spend someone else's money. Or maybe I should say; possible to spend money when you have the funds as opposed to not having the funds.

Or maybe I should say; possible to spend money when you have the funds as opposed to not having the funds. Extremely likely that unless we got outside funding we would have not been able to make this move. I know, I know resources don't really matter, sweep will assure me I am clueless on it, but that's what I believe.
