We didn’t send cheerleaders or the band or the mascot to a national semifinal game? Really? Well, BSU........

It is hard to believe Ball State did not send Charlie Cardinal, Cheerleaders, Code Red Dancers nor a Pep Band to the NCAA Final Four at UCLA. BSU was the only school in the Final Four that was not represented with the above mentioned! My goodness, if this was the women’s basketball Final Four, you can bet your bottom dollar BSU would have sent Charlie Cardinal, the Code Red Dancers, the Cheerleaders and a 25 piece Pep Band! The crowd support at women’s basketball at BSU is pale compared to men’s and women’s volleyball, who both advanced to the NCAA tournament with no support other than excellent BSU fans.

Bsu isn’t going to spend much in support of volleyball.

Bsu isn’t going to spend much in support of volleyball. Three problems with doing it. Money, time, and Finals week. They'd have to commit to several days lodging and flights. The mascot and cheerleaders are volunteers, bad time for them to travel, would a few being there be much better? I get the decision, but this needs to be used to raise money for the Program, it was embarrassing.

Bsu isn’t going to spend much in support of volleyball. I believe after what has transpired this year that is all going to change. BSU volleyball alumni planning on raising 2 million dollars to endow program and help BSU win its first national championship in any sport like we nearly did this year! A National Coach of the Year, 4 All Americans, a #2 NCAA tournament seeding, 2 wins over the eventual National Champion Hawaii and taking the Rainbow Warriors to 5 sets in the Final Four! If that’s not reason to get BSU excited, I don’t know what is! BSU was 1 point away from potentially sweeping Hawaii! As former USA Olympic Coach and BSU alumnus Mick Haley has repeated many times, the best opportunity Ball State has to win a National Championship is in volleyball and we nearly did it this year!

It was embarrassing not having some sort of pep session their The BSU alumni association really dropped the ball there! Having no BSU pre-match get together really upset a lot of BSU fans that made the trip or already lived in California. There was a perfect location within walking distance of Pauley Pavilion that would have been ideal. Weather was magnificent too! I guarantee the late Ed Shipley would have had this organized to a T and am not even sure who holds Alumni Director position now.

I came across a couple interesting social media threads that mentioned their disappointment with the ncaa in their coverage of the final 4. There was a ton of coverage from independent sources but next to nothing from the ncaaa. I also found it odd that only the championship was Televised. I would have thought with it being the final four other matches would have been streamed to espn+ or even put on an obscure network. I know you could watch it ncaa.com but it just like the whole thing had very little support

Volleyball deserves a lot more. I hope this run to the final 4 gins up more. It’s true that sport gives us the best chance to get a National championship. A legit chance. No other sport at bsu comes close.

VB on TV faces a problem or two.
Not a lot of fans. And maybe a bit like soccer 20 years ago, not many knowledgeable fans who can concentrate on the game for long, enjoy it.
Delaware County has a lot of people who have watched a lot of VB, we have a different perspective.

Of course, the Olympics are not on ESPN. There were tons of men’s matches this year on ESPN3 and ESPN+. The women’s volleyball collegiate coaches are livid with ESPN as well for the lack of NCAA tournament coverage. The Big 10 and PAC 12 network’s do a great job televising volleyball, but do not have the rights to the NCAA tournament. Only ESPN can televise the tournament and they do a terrible job. Hopefully, with all the complaints, this will change in the future!

I guess I see a 5 set VB match as a too long attention span for the TV audience. On the other hand ESPN televises a lot of crap it's hard for me to imagine have a big fan base.
Good point that the coverage could be improved. Maybe a little informed comment on strategy and what makes a good play, replaying selected points to highlight some of the deception and tactics. It's not all just power at the net!

The fact our admin did not send any support for a final four ncaa championship is unacceptable and incompetent.
As far as I’m concerned, this Mickey Mouse, chicken shit mentality is a fireable offense. If money was a concern, alumni should have been notified for support.
As far as the students, exam dates should have been adjusted. Or there is this crazy new thing called the internet. The headcount to make this happen and show some flexibility would not have been too high. What’s a week delay?
Unacceptable!
