It sounds to me that the parents want the kids to play more than the kids want to play football. If a kid is missing practices, quitting the team, etc. looks like he does not care that much and he is the kind of kid who should be going to science club instead of going to football practice when he or his parents decide to show up. Go to practice get better play more.

Sounds like the same stuff that was said about Paddock playing the whole game. "let us see what the backup can do". Over the ears Little League parents have been the worst. Yes the kid that quit should have been cut from the team. Social media is a pox on this nation. I coached 7th and 8th grade B team basketball and it was all about developmental basketball. At some point during the season they all got into a game. For most it would be their only year to play organized basketball. I had one or two go on to play at the varsity level at Anderson High School. One of the players went on to become an outstanding cross country runner for Anderson University and his son for Lapel. forty players is too many. Notre Dame put Rudy in the game so why not a bench warming 7th grader? Favoritism? We have said that same thing about Neu and last year.

Keep in mind the middle school coaches are probably following overall program directives to develop players for high school. The players they are projecting are getting the reps.

I ran a 8 and 9 year old baseball league in the seventies for two years in the park department in Goshen. We only played five innings to save the pitchers arms. It was hard to find kids that could throw strikes at that age. It was really hard to get all the kids to play when you only play five innings. I had a deal with the kids that if they did not play in a game the next game they would start. The kids liked this deal. It was a big thing to start. Some of the parents did not like it but it worked out to the kids satisfaction. Each team played twice a week so every week every player was in the starting line up.

Years ago in middle school football there was a 5th quarter for those that didn't get to play in the game. My high school had 2 players to on to play in college - one at Ball State and one at Indiana State. They both played the 5th quarter. Getting that playing time kept them wanting to play and allowed them to begin to develop. You never know what you might find.

It's pretty obvious that the child of "Main Parent" is not as interested in football as Main Parent is. I would patiently explain to Main Parent that while his son may have some talent, he lacks the commitment to continue on the team. Therefore, the son has been released from his obligation to the football team so he can be free to pursue a life of intellectual and religious fulfillment.
Then tell Main Parent to fuck off.

The kid of the main parent is sweet kid and a great wrestler. He likes football but his priority is wrestling. The other couple kids who have not seen the field I don’t know at all . Glad I’m not involved with any of it big thanks to CardFan for advising me not too take the 7th grade Job when it was pitched to me a couple years ago

Deleted original post cause some moms got it twisted up. Coaches mentioned the situation rather harshly and the team did some extra running nothing extreme

Report from practice lol The last 10 minutes of practice the coaches put a mix of 7th and 8th third string defense out against a mix of 7th and 8th Second string Offense. The defense gave up 4 straight touchdowns with out ever tackling anyone. The coaches then said. Go home and tell your fucking parents this why you don’t fucking play. The entire team then had to stay over and do 5 suicides and 100 push ups . I’m guessing the social media attack backfired in the worst way Yikes. Head coach definitely in the wrong here.

Yikes. Head coach definitely in the wrong here. I don’t know would not have been my approach but I guess they made their point I talked to my son who said the initial report was exaggerated. The coach did say something along those lines and they did do some extra running but nothing extreme. Appearantly the stories grew from mom to mom. My son would not elaborate saying it’s a team thing and that the best would play.

Maybe the coach is a bit less of an ass than it looked. But.
Team thing or not, less extreme or not, this may not work out well. These are kids playing a middle school sport. Too much drama.
Gotta be a better way to handle it.

Nah the coaches never did anything wrong. The substitutions may not be how I or someone else might do them but the coaches are not obligated to play everyone. The social media posting by parents is the problem that’s where the drama comes in. The kids even the ones involved to my knowledge never said a word about PT

The social media posting by parents is the problem that’s where the drama comes in. The kids even the ones involved to my knowledge never said a word about PT Coaches and parents both handled this wrong. Ultimately the kids are paying the price. Good luck! I hope things get better from here.
