Nah the coaches never did anything wrong. The substitutions may not be how I or someone else might do them but the coaches are not obligated to play everyone. The social media posting by parents is the problem that’s where the drama comes in. The kids even the ones involved to my knowledge never said a word about PT My bet is some kids were upset, might not have told anyone but parents who noticed it, got worried. Coaches needed very clear communication early on. The kids can't be expected to handle it perfectly, right or wrong. Clueless or not. Parents no doubt wrong here, but maybe got stonewalled. Not good. Coaches when this issue surfaced needed to handle complaints better. Parents being out of line is predictable, coaches need to be prepared to to deal. The practice response "messaging" was BS and could end up making this worse. I am sympathetic with the coaches up to a point but parents are part of the equation and you need to deal with them, there are very likely well meaning, committed parents who would be allies (like you) if handled better. And the jerks would get no traction.

I’m not an Allie of the substations I don’t think any parent is. Every parent I’m close with all agree the bench should have been in the 2 blow out situations and that there is no need to be playing kids both ways. I feel really bad for the kids who have not played at all. I know one of them very well and it hurts me he will probably not play football anymore. I get parents being upset I was pissed when my son was benched for 1 game. I told my son it was now on him to get his spot back and told him what he needed to do to get it back.
But we were told at the parent meeting this could happen. The kids were told do not ask about playing time during a game or practice. Ask about it before or after practice. We were also told by the coaches that none had social media and if we as parents needed something we could arrange a meeting
I have a problem with the social media posting which created a lynch mob mentality among parents and tons of people posting/ripping on a situation they know nothing about. The kids have screen shotted posts by others parents which say I know my kid is better than such and such he sucks. Which is causing the kids to fight
I’m fine with the messaging because it’s not singled at one kid on the team. The extra conditioning is being done by everyone

I have a problem with the social media posting which created a lynch mob mentality... That's what social media does. Keyboard warriors feel emboldened to be aggressive, but if confronted in person, they wilt. Maybe the coaches should call a meeting with the parents and call out each one that posted.

Social media magnifies genuine concerns. Poor medium to air complaints with the coach.
The coach-parent communication has to have some feedback mechanism. Both sides are flunking the communication test. Although the coach can't make that his life either, he can never assume everyone is on his wavelength, not without some work, like it or not.
Delta is really committed to sports and winning. Good up to a point. It's the question Rob asked up front. When is it "real sports" and winning is almost the only objective? Or as several have said how much is this still development, learning? And, what's the lesson?
Parents here obviously should have some role, will have concerns. And there's a transition from recreational competition. For these kids (and parents) entering a more serious level how hard core can the coach be?

We we’re giving a way to reach the coach like everything there is an app for that. He texts a group message to parents after every practice

It's gotta say something about the state of BSU football that in the middle of a season the busiest thread on a BSU football fans page is one dealing with playing time on a local junior high school football team.

It has picked up some but I had been monitoring the bball board and it went a month with no BSU related posts. October is the best month to be a bball fan because reality hasn't kicked our teeth in yet, so I expect some more posting next month.
