We have a good team - need more big plays. I agree we have good talent and we deff need more big plays. Can’t agree with the d line play though. If we can’t get more consistent pressure we will not win games. If any Mac qb has time to sit back there and wait our secondary will get picked apart. Anyones secondary would you can’t cover a WR that long. If your going to play three then you have to pick your spots and send more lbs NIU’s offensive scheme is different - I think we’ll see more than 3 rushing, and hopefully a nice package of outside blitzing. |

Another note You don’t offer 6 Juco oline guys in a couple weeks if your happy with your oline play. Juco guys are quick fixes yeah, there's something to that. Our guys just lack punch and we can't get short yardage when it really counts to either keep drives alive or pound the ball into the endzone. Steele is a beast and gets a ton of yards after contact, and he gets contacted a lot. The lack of sacks is kinda misleading because Paddock gets the ball out immediately to his first option. We don't seem to have progressions so the route trees are almost meaningless. The first option for the throw is getting the ball, period and all the other guys are essentially decoys. So, we have to depend on guys getting open quick. Yards after the catch are difficult too because everything is within a 20 yard zone. Rarely do we hit wr's in open space with room to run. They gotta do it on their own. I DO like that we have weapons at TE now and are using them. Keep doing that and eventually the linebackers will have to respect that. |

Lombardi can run, so I don't think we're going to be trying to give him too many lanes. He'll kill us on scrambles and misdirection, much like the WMU QB did. We need to have containment on Lombardi. The RB is really good too. Our defensive scheme is really susceptible to given up big yardage on "broken" plays and RPO runs. |
