Well we still can’t shoot a lick. We do run offensive sets, we can’t shoot a lick.. owens white out in a boot, windham playing a lot, bumb a little, we coach in game and use timeouts best part of the game so far Lewis screams to a guard not passing to sparks. “Give him the fucking Ball” Old guy in front of me turns and says did he just say that lol “Give him the fucking ball” That is music to my ears!!!!!

Windham questionable three in transition
Lewis smashes table breaks clipboard takes timeout and gives him the riot act….
Windham back in next possession
Dude does not play
Offense is good looking producing many good shots we can’t make them

17 to 8 assists to turnovers ratio is encouraging. Need to keep that going against a Division I basketball team.

Exhibition game went as expected 27 point drubbing! Gave coach a better idea what he’s got. No big deal.

Jacobs showed some offense, especially driving to the basket. Coleman knew he could take defenders one on one, handled the ball pretty well out front. Bumbalough played active defense but was not effective on offense. Windham played some D, went to the boards.
Sparks came out in the second half and was very active, blocked a shot, looked good, but within a few minutes got hit hard and sat out the rest of the game. He would have likely been what we expected if he had more minutes the second half it appears.
Pearson was active defender and hit the offensive boards.
Cleary made a couple of slick base line moves, and should not have made one...
Jihad was active and defended out on the court, but did get beat on the drive.
Bell made a cameo appearance for last couple of possessions.

Just a couple more thoughts… Lewis coaches at all times. If you screw up he lets you know but then I saw him coach up every kid at some point.
Cole man got td up for talking trash. This did not bother Lewis at all they had a laugh about it
Was told the team never made it to the locker room initially at the half. They paused in the hallway where Lewis said I did not come here to fucking
Bumb might be ceremonial starter but he’s done when sellers returns. Owens white also set to be back up pg when healthy

I freaking love it. Accountability, competitiveness and some vulgarity suits me just fine. I guess the front row folks better get over their delicate sensibilities. I love it. Now just win!!!!

I’m torn. I love the attitude, but as someone who may be attending the games with small children I dont love the vulgarity. If vulgarity is the price of a MAC championship I’d pay it, but I’d like to have the best of both.

My takes: 1. Whole new defensive philosophy (like as in actually guarding people, little to no switching, and at least somewhat trying to guard the three point line). IMO it was a little hard to tell if the guys were bought in and just falling well short (especially in the first half) or not buying in yet. 2. Coleman still drives me nuts. Very little effort on D, very shaky ballhandling (sorry, not sure what game you were watching, 00), and just a demeanor on the floor that I personally don't care for. It will be interesting to see how his relationship with Lewis progresses and how his game evolves. Lewis kind of has no choice but to go with him given our lack of talent and depth. 3. As Calhoun so eloquently pointed out, Lewis pulls guys often to teach, but doesn't bench guys for real long. However, when he pulled Coleman for the tech he sat quite a while. Also pulled Pearson, Windham, and Sparks for very questionable threes - something Whit would never do. To Calhoun's point, not only does Lewis never stop coaching and teaching, his staff does the same. 4. I really like Jacobs. We need Sellers. Bumb's minutes will fade away like Bird's jumper (or maybe Cam Echols). 5. We are super weak inside. Blocking out still needs some work. 6. Passing looked more crisp and to the outside hand compared to Whit's teams. 7. Depauw was a good exhibition opponent/ test. They are well-coached, disciplined, shoot well, and have some heady players. #24 can play. We just wore them down with our athleticism.
All of that to say that Lewis has one colossal job ahead of him, but the bar is pretty low in the MAC, so I'd bet he gets there pretty quickly. It will all come down to who he signs and who stays for next year.
