Probably need to turn them over, or get the lightening bolt long play we haven't had to have winning chances. Needless to say playing well both 1st and 2nd half essential. |

Our lack of punch on offense really comes home to roost in this one. Defense will hang for a quarter or so but will eventually just wear out and give up big plays.

Toledo will look much better if Finn plays. As of Sunday he was 50/50 on being in the game. As cardfan always says we don't do well against running QBs & he is one. 2nd stringer Gleason has not shown running ability to date.

As far as superstitions, every time the StarPress guy highlights a player or position group, or questions whether bsu can keep winning certain ways, that player/position group/tendency goes south and we lose. Today his question is, can the d keep up their strong play…. I think we know what the answer is going to be after that jinx….

How do you eliminate the QB option to run? Tackle him. I don't think we've thought of that, based on the gougings we receive at the hands of mobile QBs. Finn made us look pretty bad last year and that was in a part time role. |

Is there something that before the ball is snapped that our defense can pick up on that would indicate that the QB might run with it? Tackle him when he has gained 20 yards really doesn't help much. Need to tackle him before he gets started down the field.

Need to tackle him before he gets started down the field. Probably. Designed runs are only 50% of his game though. Its the ability to get out of the pocket on pass plays which turn into busted coverage deepballs and unexpected keepers. He evades as many sacks as anyone with this OL. |

Only thing a D can do is put a spy on him. If you do this you committ to playing your corners one on one the whole game with no safety help. We have basically done this all year but used Jordan Riley Scott as a run stopper. If he is spying Flynn you open up those huge middle of the field runs and passes we had been so used too
