What does everyone think of ISU? ESPN gives them a 63% chance of winning. With both teams having new coaches and both teams blowing out inferior competition in Game 1 there doesn't seem much to base predictions on. ISU has established a bit of a lead in the series history, so we need to start to chip away at that.
I've never been to the Hulman Center but every time we play there I think about going but never can make it. Same story this year. Anyone going?

If I am hiking in the forest and I feel the urge to take a piss, I will find to closest Sycamore tree to piss on its trunk. .....what?....

Cards will win if they go all in on getting the ball to Sparks. ISU is over rated.

This is perhaps a reasonable preseason guess. But I agree completely.
It can't really reflect what the difference is we hope to see, which is a team that is aggressive and defends. Any statistical player ratings used for preseason guesswork do a poor job capturing hustle and defense.

Our new mindset about playing tough defense will carry us and kickouts will hopefully produce a much better 3 pt percentage.

The trees are dominated with scoring guards!
I believe they have a couple of transfers and their leading scorer came in from DePaul.
Stop their guards and we win!!

I do feel strongly about this--that our scout will be better than it has been in years, our focus will be better, our intensity will be better, and our effort will be better. If our energy level is what it needs to be we will beat ISU. If adjustments need to be made in game, they will happen. Can be certain that getting the ball to Sparks in good spots to score will be the focus, and we won't be allowed to settle for jacking up 3's. I imagine if one of the guys gets 3 happy, he's coming out unless he's hitting them. I'm looking forward to seeing how Lewis game plans/makes adjustments vs ISU as the game plays out, and how we defend. I thought there wee some moments where we got a little lazy/slow to react on back cuts/baseline dribble drives by Earlham but none of it was fatal. (as the score indicated) But we gotta keep better guards off their mark.

I liked that Lewis said something along of lines of it being hard to criticize a defense only giving up 39 points but there were improvements to be made on D.

Lewis as a player sat through a lot of post game film sessions where a blowout win resulted in a lot of that search for perfect. Focus on the negative has some merit. Get rid of the bad plays and outright errors expect his players will make enough good plays.

Last year, Whitford's dysfunctional team beat ISU by 27. It was a complete domination from end to end. However, this is a much improved Sycamore team that may not deserve a 63% chance of winning, but will still be a sneaky good test for us. They return three starters from last year's team, and they brought in two transfers (McCauley from DePaul, and Gibson from D2 Tusculum) who combined for 41 points in their 80-53 win against Green Bay. As long as we close out on their solid three-point shooters, which Lewis's defensive system emphasizes, and play fast under-control offense, we should pick up a nice win.

I can believe they're improved, but it looks like we are under rated. We'll see, I guess.
Good locker room material to go in as underdogs that much.
