Don’t know if anyone watched but Kent one. Thomas had the game sealing block. Then Kent went Kent with the extra curriculars. They are a vile bunch of assholes.

Ugly game, Lucky to win, shot awful. Thomas 2 for 10 from 3. UTEP had depth, some size. We won't be able to play Kent the same way. Kent had impressive win against New Mexico yesterday.

Ball State loses to Indiana State by 12. NIU goes on the road and wins by 10. Shows you how poorly Ball State played in that game.
Also, the Cards begin conference play at Toledo, Akron, and at Ohio. Ball State could conceivably start the conference season at 0-3 and I would not be worried.

I watched the first half and the start of the second and was not impressed. Thomas did a lot of standing around on both ends of the floor. Not a great statement win - scoring less than 50 points. Sorry I missed the fisticuffs.

It was not our best, but this NIU result is more of a motivated NIU team, combined with a terrible game by ISU over this last week where we have seen distracted BB by so many teams.
ISU against NIU shot 35% with 8 of 35 from 3.
They shot 50+% against us.
Our performance was not good, but second half we recovered. We were not terrible but not good, mostly in the stretch 1st half where we were knocked back on our ass, down by 8 after 5 minutes and down 12 at the half.
I agree it isn't a huge worry, we seemed to learn a lesson.

Hard to think Toledo won't be ready to play, and they should have a good crowd even without school in session, since they have so many more fans in the immediate area compared to us.
At Ohio always a bear of a trip. One area where we sometimes surprised last year was going on the road and playing well.
Hate to think about possible 0-3 start.

We lack interior depth and strength. Sparks is having a bit of a sophomore slump. Until the Ga So game Jihad hadn’t shown enough. Get up into our guards and we struggle, so I would imagine MAC teams are going to be very physical with us get Sparks in foul trouble and take away dribble drive to make us beat them from 27 feet away.

Pushing the pace to get points on the break becomes important. Also, Coleman and maybe Windham would be key in such a game, Bumb would have to take wide open shots and hit.
Taking away the drive will be hard, unless they zone us. We can find our way against the zone, we finally started to do that against Southern.

I do have confidence Lewis scouts and game plans well and he’s proved he can redirect the team in game to meet challenges.
