I couldn't believe that we went back to 3 down defensive linemen again! Especially on passing downs. No quarterback pressure at all. We were in a 3-3 box with 5 defensive backs.

Paddock has been best in the hurry up tempo all year I 114% agree with this. My buddy and I have said this for weeks. Could be that the DC's don't have time to see our formation, know what we're going to do and set their defensive up to defend what we're going to do. I don't know what it is, but I do agree that we look better acting like we're in a hurry.

That’s no knock on Steele, it’s just the nature of being run dominant. We really oughta come out balls to the wall against Miami but I know better.

I’m watching Miami so far I have not seen Gabbert. They do not look good although the weather is a shitshow. It’s a winnable game for us but we have to want it

If Miami wins tonight they will beat us. If they lose we have a shot.

I don't think they will implode because this appears to be a tight-knit group of players who really do play for each other (and you make a good point that Neu should be given some credit for developing that culture.) So I don't expect them to lay down or quit in the last game. I've felt all season that there has been an over-reliance on Steele almost like this staff's objective is to make him a Doak Walker winner. They put a lot of unnecessary miles on that kid. We can't run a couple of up-tempo series featuring Hunt and Koziol? Or an option series with Kelly, Steele and Pemberton? Pemberton getting buried is particularly confusing; did some digging on him and he was a monster coming out of high school-was Illinois' Player of the Year in a senior class that had also had Michigan's starting QB and Oregon's starting RB...was also an All-State basketball player. So he's clearly an athlete. He ran well against Tennessee and then...poof. And I hear he is the RB getting the reps in practice because Steele is too banged up to practice most of the week. So I'd be shocked if he stayed. But it's not just him-there are a lot of talented players who are getting buried with no rationale for why. None of this passes the sniff test. Neu gets away with the non-answers because we don't have a rabid fan base or donors really pushing for answers. He would not be able to get away with this stuff in a bigger program. Gets frustrating watching these same patterns season after season.
Having said all of that, every time I see the pictures of the three Virginia football players who were killed and imagining what their families are going through, I remember that yes we've had another bad loss and another underachieving season but that is all it is.

First off your right about the Virginia kids god help their family’s. You mentioned Kelly. Anyone close to the team will tell you Kelly is one of if not the best athlete on the team. I’ve been told directly to my face that you can’t insert a square peg into a round hole when I did ask about Kelly. Meaning he is different and his skill set does not fit our offense. So you make a package of 15-20 plays for Kelly and give him some practice reps then you add a play week or two plays. Does not seem to be worth the time and effort involved though

Chirp rising also brings up another good point. There is no accountability for any BSU coach when it comes to the media. We have one beat writer who gets access once a week. I’ll give general credit he is not as much as a cream puff as the last two but he is not pushing the really hard questions and if he did Neu or any other coach can just dodge it. The Ad dept can bury anything they want. We do not have big money donors demanding answers. None of that is going to change. I’m not going to name any names but their are parents just scratching their heads wondering what’s going on.
