The Mavs play a tough pre-conference season. They lost to #5 Kansas and Nebraska on the road, and came home to beat the Idaho Vandals.
After Ball State, they take on Iowa, play a Thanksgiving Tourney, then play Mississippi State.
No Earlham Quakers or IUSB Titans for the Mavericks!

We were there for three days for a conference while the College World Series was going on and found a steak place near the stadium…the food and surroundings near the stadium were awesome!!!

My comment before the ISU game: "Kenpom still has BSU with the 279th defense. This is primarily based on last year and I think we all are hoping (quite reasonably) for a big improvement there."
Crunching the data from the ISU game caused Ken to drop us now to #294. Not exactly the change I was hoping for.
The ISU game really sucked in a number of ways. Personally, I'm not that big on feisty post-game interviews or gaining a bunch of poor play on film to learn from. Some people seem to value those things. I'm more of an old-fashioned wins and losses kind of guy. Unfortunately, it won't be until the Vermont game on 11/25 until the team has an opportunity against a halfway decent opponent to give us a different impression. And, yes, I freely admit I have absolutely zero patience where BSU basketball is concerned. I ran out of patience in the Buckley years and the BSU basketball program has done absolutely nothing since then to replenish it.

Sparks is going to have to work on kicking it out when he gets triple teamed. ISU was quick to send help when he had the ball and we couldn't make them pay for leaving two guys open.

This looks to me like a pretty decent test for us on the road. They've played some pretty good teams and appeared to have competed.

No, Omaha is God awful. #324
If we don't beat them rather easily, that would be a bad sign.

No, Omaha is God awful. #324 If we don't beat them rather easily, that would be a bad sign. I think it's safe to say that this early in the season, most rating services don't have a clue as to what to do with a team like Omaha. They were God awful last year but, like us, they have a new coach. Unlike us, they basically also have a mostly new roster with only a few holdovers from the previous team playing a significant role. They may not be great but they did play a respectable game at Kansas (as compared to our game at Xavier last year) and at Nebraska. And we only beat them by 4 last year at home so ...
