Ohio pulls out the win over Wyoming in OT to give the MAC another win and goes 4-2 this bowl season. Not too bad for a conference that is considered a cellar dweller conference. They could have gone 5-1 had BG not choked. The losses were both very close and could've been won. 5-1 or 6-0 was extremely realistic. Or 0-6, 1-5?
The MAC seems the equal of the other 6 teams, a group comprising perhaps the bottom 12 of 60+ bowl eligible teams. All averaging somewhere around #100 out of 130 FBS teams.
I agree the bowl committees matched up some decent games. Which is sort of what you would expect.

The MAC is a bottom level conference in FBS. 4 wins was unexpected, yes. Statistically proving anything about conference strength? No. C'mon. "top 110" opposition? There are only 130 FBS teams. A few MAC teams only outside the bottom 30. We were generaly supposed to be close in most of the games, won more than our share, 3 of 4 by very small margins Sagarin ranks FBS and FCS together as one group. The "top 110 opposition" described by me earlier included 10 FCS teams, so 'top 110 overall' translates to 'top 100 FBS' in this case. There are 17 FBS teams ranked worse than Sagarin's overall top 130 - 3 of them are MAC teams and 14 from other conferences including 1 Power 5 team in Colorado...UMass is his worst-rated FBS team at #189 overall. (UMass was 3 of the MAC's 8 FBS non-conference wins in '22) Yes without a doubt the MAC is at or very near the bottom FBS conference every year. But it is encouraging to see our conference teams beat some decent record teams from other conferences away from home |

G5 seems up and down teams peak then vanish except for a very few that manage to stay up. Mac west has in most years had a couple teams that would be near top of any G5 league. East even less. For along time now take away those and the MAC has been bad

MAC being a weak conference may be valid however I think there still is a fair amount of MAC players in the NFL.

MAC football being a hopeless, ludicrous, money-losing embarrassment every year, I think Debbie would be a very appropriate mascot for Maction!
