Whew! I was watching on delay and when we were down so big in the second half I just jumped forward to live and couldnt believe we were only down 2. What a nice Christmas surprise!

There are MAC teams that may be as physical, and also have some shooting. Not sure any are quite as good on D, played well in man and in zone. Southern was very good.
This one is a blue print how to beat us, although I doubt we play a half with the offense we had 1st half.

GS was an exceptionally good defensive team, especially with Curry in the middle. Not one of our best games offensively, especially that first half.
An 8 - 4 record is better than I projected.
Any insight as to Windham not playing? Injury, poor performance?

Any insight as to Windham not playing? Injury, poor performance? I’m guessing poor performance. His 2nd missed 3 attempt was contested and was an air ball a foot right from the top of the key. He’s at his best when he doesn’t force, but is ready to catch-square-shoot after dribble penetration from teammate and kick-out.

How nice is it to see a Ball State team who did not play well in a half come back and beat a well coached team. Love our guards!

Those two teams really battled. Georgia Southern is well-coached and tough.
Coleman reverted back to the Coleman of old the bulk of the game, though he did a couple of nice things in the comeback.
IMO, Jacobs on both ends of the floor was the difference.
This was a great win because literally no one besides Jacobs played very well for us and GS wasn't going to roll over for us. A Whitford team would have whimpered and died down 14 and gotten blown out by this type of a team.
Call me crazy, but I fear the holes in Sparks game are starting to get exposed a little bit.

I don't wan to overstate that, as I do think Sparks is a very nice MAC-level post player, but I have noticed teams are figuring him out...and the FT shooting is going to destroy him if he doesn't get it figured out.

Sparks makes me uncomfortable when he gets the ball underneath. He is not going to take a jump shot and his feet get “happy” and he starts to bull his way toward the basket. Fortunately, the other team normally fouls him before he charges, travels or loses the ball.

It was a small Christmas break crowd but it was getting pretty intense in worthern. Crowd is starting to take on Lewis’s demeanor a bit. Couple good Lewis moments. Once boogie was giving the ref hell on a bad call and Lewis stops him and says let me do this lol
Bumb was going to dunked on and he just let the guy score uncontested. I thought Lewis might bury him right there. Also Lewis seems to trust Boogie they have several moments each game where they are just talking badketball

Not sure what has changed with Coleman. His shooting stats are WAY off. I want to say it is his shot selection vs. the last two years. Just don't know. He’s a little out of control but Lewis seems to accept it.

He just has to coach him up and get the most he can out of him.

Coleman was taken out of the game by the defense 1st half, more the case than just being a flake, which was the Coleman of old too often.
Their D played the passing lanes well and that is such a big part of his game. He did have a careless pass late in the game for which I hope he suffers in the film room. Over and over...
Second half he was huge in the comeback stretch, made a crucial driving play later in the game for 3pts, and hit FT's.
He played D and was active fighting for the ball when it got loose. He's a different player than his first time here. His head is in the game more, although he still has occasional impulsive plays and pushes the envelope.
All in all we don't win without him.
