Butler doesn't want to play here. That's the sticking point. We're not going to give them a 2 for 1. Why wouldnt we do a 2 for 1 with them? Why would we? We’re close enough their fans can come here.

We beat their women's team like a drum on a regular basis. Alex Richards came to us from Butler and she is really good. Butler hired Austin Parkinson from IUPUI to be their woman's coach. I wouldn't be surprised if they're a tournament-level team in the next year or two. Just look at what he did at IUPUI with significantly less resources.

Updating the current NET rankings
Current rank/school/change since last posting on this thread
4. Purdue (+1) 32. Indiana (-7) 80. Butler (-7) 106. Indiana State (-13) 112. Ball State (-9) 158. Purdue-Fort Wayne (-7) 162. Notre Dame (+12) 238. Southern Indiana (-1) 317. Valparaiso (+1) 344. Evansville (-13) 361. IUPUI (0)
Always interesting to see how teams move up/down. Purdue beats Nebraska at home, gains 1 spot. IU loses at Penn State, beats Wisconsin at home, drops 7. Butler loses at Saint John's, beats Villanova at home, drops 7. ISU loses home and road games against SIU and Missouri State, drops 13. BSU loses at Ohio, wins at home against Miami, drops 9. PFW beats IUPUI on road, drops 7. Notre Dame beats Ga. Tech, loses at Syracuse, gains 12.
I know its all about where you start, who you beat or lose to and what teams around you do, but some of those moves seem a little goofy to me.

Just for a "Feel Better Monday" post, here are some the team's Ball State is now ranked ahead of in the NET rankings:
Mississippi, Syracuse, Duquesne, Belmont, Stetson, Vermont, Richmond, San Jose State
Note 3 of our 4 out of conference losses are on that list.

You're right, but I suspect Collier has a long memory and isn't about to forget things that were said, even if it was more than a decade ago. And the truth is we need Butler more than Butler needs us. That's the way it's been for a long time now and that's still the way it is, despite BU's recent decline. Some of the old BU-BSU games I remember going to were snoozers, but if Matta can turn Butler's fortunes around some and Lewis can keep BSU on an upward trajectory, a future game could really make some noise. If the fans continue to come back for the Cards, we would travel well to Hinkle. It wouldn't bother me to do a 2-for-1. Better though would be one in Hinkle, one in Worthen and one in Gainbridge.

I think the net ratings work different than all other rankings. You cant really move upwards much with out Net wins and playing highly ranked Net teams. Kent scheduled a tougher schedule that included net teams.

Kent scheduled a tougher schedule that included net teams. You are correct, and they will come back down closer to the MAC levels as the season goes on.
The rating system based on point differential, home court, and opponents power rating is probably more accurate, but they are substantially ahead of the MAC in those systems too, could be favored in every game, home and away.
They will lose, maybe 2 or 3 games in the MAC, but are odds on to have best MAC record when you look at simulations.
