Nice win for NIU tonight. They played Kent nose to nose all game and never backed down from them. Kent didn’t look like the team we played, maybe hung over a little from their beat down of us, but give new NIU head coach and team credit for doing what no other MAC team has been able to do until tonight! We’ve backed down two straight games. Niu could woodshed us like Kent and Buffalo did. More like wilted! |

NIU has won three straight and four of five. With the exception of the Miami game, which they won by four, all the other victories have been between 10 and 21 points. Seems like they're getting things together after several blowout losses earlier in the season.
I don't think NIU will be a pushover.

We are catching N. Illinois at a tough time as they are in a good groove. Regardless of outcome, I’m hoping we see the defensive effort return as well as focused play on offense. Hoping Sparks can exorcise those demons and make some free throws. Reminder todays game is on ESPN3 so everyone can watch!

Have to get unstuck.
I'd rather we put pressure on their big guys with Sparks, draw fouls, miss the FTs or not, than play passive and give up the ball movement inside out we get.
Hack a Shaq means we're dictating play.
Gives him a chance to get better on decision of going up strong vs passing out.
Ain't gonna get better without trying and we're not going to be that good unless he gets better at it.
FTs will come, he's proved in past he can be more than adequate.

Will jump in here. Buffalo really looked bad last night against Kent and Kent had an off shooting night. Carry saved the day as did Sullinger for them. Buffalo looked like BSU did the other night.

We’re in bad headspace and our guys are not used to being pushed/coached so hard. Adjustment period is kicking in and this team can either quit on Lewis because it’s too rough, or, they can dig deeper and find that next level of effort/smarts/will to win and pull what was a really promising season back out of the dumpster. I know they’re fatigued and I know we don’t have much firepower or depth so it’s true gutcheck time. We’ll see which way this thing goes. But today is two teams going in opposite directions and maybe we compete better but we still won’t have enough to overcome. What I hope is we have our little funk and then correct it and finish strong and NIU has their run right now and then go back to what they were. Water always finds its level. What is our water level? |

Pretty damn good half fellas. Our offense on fire putting up 49 points. Boogie already with 6 assist / 9 points and that no-look behind the head pass was epic.
Let's keep it up dammit.

All in all, a very good first half. Defense was solid, we shared the ball and knocked down our open 3’s. Really happy to see our 3 bench players contribute 17 including Luke knocking down a couple of 3’s. Pearson did miss a couple of point blank shots and we sucked at the FT line once again. Need another 20 minutes of focused play!
