Would love to see some tweaks to our offense. It is becoming too predictable. The reality is that we are a 7-8 deep team that is not that skilled. Defense has to become a priority.

Nice win for NIU tonight. They played Kent nose to nose all game and never backed down from them. Kent didn’t look like the team we played, maybe hung over a little from their beat down of us, but give new NIU head coach and team credit for doing what no other MAC team has been able to do until tonight!

It is all going to depend on our defense from here on out. After listening to the coaches post game, I have no doubt that is going to be the focus of this team.

No doubt about D being a key.
Defense demands physical effort. Might have to play 8 deep to maintain that.
Bumb and Jihad plus ? has been the question. Yet neither who get most minutes off bench is a great defender.

At the risk of sounding stupid (I know not the first time), I think we need to not focus on winning. Genius right?
Instead we need to focus on effort. Maximum all-out effort from tip to buzzer. That has been lacking and we’ve been out toughed and out hustled the past two games. At this moment, we should also be singularly focused on one possession at a time on both ends of the floor. Get a stop and get a great shot. When we were winning, we didn’t settle for jump shots or rush our offense. Now we act like it’s a ten second shot clock. We’re defending from our heels instead of our toes. Hard nosed vs. finesse is required on Saturday and no more looking beyond the next 35 seconds. I also need Lewis to lose his shit and let it loose. We play better when he’s 😡

We play better when he’s 😡 Agree and if you listen to Lewis’s post-game presser that’s pretty much what he said! I believe he even said something along the line of “I don’t really care what the score is, I just want these guys to focus on defending.” He then went on to say how this is hard for college kids to do but it takes a sacrifice and commitment. I thought it was a great post game press conference from Lewis! |
