I don’t know if Lewis shortened his leash at the end but Coleman just about killed us those last two minutes of regulation. 1:19 left and we had the lead and the ball and he launched a three at 1:10 Coleman was extremely frustrating pretty much the entire night. Lots of bad shots, 6 turnovers, and he never had to guard their studs. He made 3 of them, but he shot 4 3-pointers in the first 1:50 of the game. I knew it would be him trying to show up Farrakan and Bates all night. He also almost cost us the game with 4 seconds to go in regulation with that stupid turnover at midcourt. He's a double-edged sword if I've ever seen one (still had 18 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 blocks). |

Thata was fun and we hit 6000. Bates is real and eastern is scary I can't imagine a better performance by a trio of opposing guards in Muncie ever. They went for 69 points on 26 of 54 shooting with guys draped all over them. They really should be on the top of the MAC, but Bates and Farrakan literally don't play D and Stan Heath spends way more time bitching to the refs than coaching his team. We played a horrible first half from an offensive and ballhandling standpoint. Sellers seemed to handle Bates really well, but got called for some garbage fouls and made a critical error on getting baited into his 4th foul on a double tech. Jacobs played his heart out, but the box score doesn't show it on Bates' line. We finally fed Sparks for a change. Pearson played really well. I wonder if Lewis plays Bates differently in Ypsilanti? I felt like we needed to be more physical with him. When Sellers denied him the ball we handled him pretty well. I suppose the cheap fouls on Sellers changed the gameplan. Our bench continues to be abysmal... A Whitford team would've folded like a cheap suit and lost this game by 25. We did too many dumb things to count on offense and had several defensive lapses, but we hung tough and countered their punches. |

He does not have Bonzi’s overall game but he is better offensively which is saying something. He has lottery pick talent but he obviously has some issues. The problem I have with this game tonight is that he is a rhythm shooter and scorer and always, I mean always going to his strong hand side to shoot. I would have implored our guys to take away his right shoulder and forced him left, even if it meant he was getting into the lane. He is special and if he can stay out of trouble, is going to make a shit load of money. Not so sure he is not bringing in some pretty good change right now. He was a man amongst boys tonight. |

Great point about strong hand. I also think you have to deny him the ball (Sellers did a good job of this when on him) and get physical with him. Jacobs played him really tight. Anyone else see Lewis get after one of his assistants late in the game for seemingly talking over him while he was trying to instruct the players on the court? No but I saw Lewis telling, what looked like Coleman, to get the f@&#k back and get away from him during a stoppage of play by the officials. You could tell by the his expressing that he let them know he would handle it and to get the hell back! |

Classic answer to a good player, deny him the ball, force him to weaker hand, take something he likes away, attack him at the other end.
I want to see how Kent and Akron play him. They can rough him up a bit, a little more size.
Toledo will just be a shoot out, he might get exhausted taking too many shots?

I really liked Lewis call at the end of OT to foul at after Eastern crossed the mid court line in stead of let them call the TO and not be able to set up for the final shot. That was good coaching and I think caught EMU off guard.
