If you gave Lewis EMU's roster and Heath BSU's roster, Lewis wins by 10. The new AD better start thinking about the next coach, because this might last one more year. I have a feeling Lewis might end up down south. He still has to prove he can recruit. Totally agree and while we all love his coaching style, it might not appeal to many of today's athlete.

Our current players will sell the coach to any recruit. I was impressed how Lewis positive and supporting remarks to Sparks in press conference came across. I think Sparks will respond positively. Also Coleman like a young stallion needed to be shown bluntly what his potential is. Coleman is a big boy who can take and should take Lewis getting into his face when he does dumb stuff. Lewis also praised Mickey Pearson. Lewis shows genuine respect to the players but is really demanding and hard ass in practice. OUr players have responded. Lewis is honest with the players. If they fuck up he lets them know about it and if they do well he also lets them know and then tells them what to do to even improve. I have not seen a practice but I think there is enough evidence to back up these thoughts.

Our best coaches were demanding as hell, rode the players hard and also extracted every bit they could out of each player. Most kids understand a coach who pushes them to be the best player they can be. The best coaches communicate that effectively.

I agree Rob. The student section rode him like a mule but he was humble, didn't show boat or react, just drilled shot after shot. Like a pro. Count me impressed with his game and attitude. The nest was all over but to be honest I was hoping to myself that they would just stop. I was scared it might piss him off and motivate hom more lol My sentiments, exactly !!!!!!!

Most kids understand a coach who pushes them to be the best player they can be. The best coaches communicate that effectively. Majerus and Hunsaker were demanding. Ray, not as much in a lot of ways, but recruits were impressed by him. Buckley could be a hard ass, but he did NOT communicate with recruits, or players nearly as well, never had the cred.
Before the 90's coaches everywhere all were harder nosed, and also less good and less worried about how they "communicated"...

Watched the game on my phone and was so happy to get that win! We made a good impression on TV with the crowd, the coach, and the grit of this team.
