definitely seems like a game where, if we can get out to a 10-12 point lead then Western may lose hope. We need to be ready to play from the tip. let's not get off to a slow start like we did up at Central a couple of weeks ago.

No, that is definitely Miami. We are the balls! I don't know, Miami is beautiful college town. Several MAC schools are. Some older buildings in Oxford, but it may be in upper tier. Ohio lousy location, Central also a bit out of the way. Eastern has location near things, but I do not care for it. I am no fan of the more urban campus. And athletic facilities are all over the spectrum in the MAC. FB has a lot of investment, and we trailed most of the MAC there for decades. BB we have a palace by comparison. Miami gym really sucks but only a few could I say I like. WMU not the worst I guess. There are so many choices for rectum. So many reasons for us to feel good about campus here. BSU gets best of both worlds with our location across river from industrial Muncie. Best building and grounds. Especially with Cooper being replaced.

Unless they have given up the season as hopeless, I doubt we have an easy game. They play hard, I think, just don't have size and talent beyond starters. But probably don't have firepower to catch up unless Norman and their other good guard get really hot. When they have shot well they have some good games, effort and that hacking defense seems a constant.

BSU 90 WMC 70
Its okay if we keep giving up 70 points a game as long as we score around 90!

Agreed. It seems to be the one major hangover from the Whitford era. He literally did not believe in defending the 3-point line, which is so weird given he believed in chucking as many threes as possible on the other end of the floor. Probably true on some of the shots we let somebody get loose, but we had to contend with their inside game going to the basket. That was the main thing in the scouting report, not their 3pfg game.
The odd thing about the first game defense was that Norman who can get to the basket, was 7 for 7 at the line, did not hit inside the arc but was 6 for 9 from 3. And he hit some shots under pressure where he was defended well enough. The others were just 3 for 9 overall but were reasonably hot outside for most of the game.
The game plan for them seemed to be to hold the ball so we couldn't get going, then hit at the end of the clock. Either on the drive or Norman taking a 3. That part of their offense reminded me of the game we lost to Northern Michigan the under Whitford. Fortunately WMU hit a little cold spell and we stopped them at the end of the game.
We can do better defending but if Norman is that hot again, we'll have to play better offense. We were 4 for 15 from 3 and 50% at the line. We can improve both areas.
Actually, Lewis said himself in the post game that we still struggle to defend the 3-point line. He specifically said we need to force them inside the line by challenging them on-ball and off screens. Whitford, OTOH, routinely stated he did not like to extend D to the 3-point line and that he would take his chances with that philosophy.
