Chris Jans "The Dentist" ? That's not the most appealing tag for a coach. Who wants to go play for "The Dentist"? "running our offense is like pulling teeth." "we'll rinse you out and make you spit." "Brace yourself when you play us."

MAC basketball the 3 biggest cities should dominate in current situation & have for the past 10 years. Think size & media presence Buffalo,Akron & Toledo will dominate. Kent is probably 4th but really is not the dominant presence in either Cleveland or Akron. Our only chance of keeping a Sparks for four yrs is winning & being able to give him a sizeable NIL deal. NIL deal can only happen with a multi millionaire contributing. Not likely in Muncie. Those city teams have presence in the local market for NIL deals. BSU players might have a few auto dealers, but the large employers are the University and Hospital not companies who can write off NIL as expense items for consumer good will. We have some banks and a very few other companies who have had advertising deals with the athletic program.
The millionaire grads who went into local industry, we have a very few. Our hope for developing NIL for players will depend on Indy area advertisers who want to use the brand. Local players might help a little there and they may cash in. But you are right those urban schools have a big advantage in local consumers with connection to the university brands there.
I'm not sure whether the athletic department and NIL deals ,which go around the department, aren't simply competing for the same dollar.
Sherm and others can mock our Department but those relatively small advertising dollars contribute to the budget revenue. There is not that much fat. Cut it and send it direct to the players and something else suffers in the operating budget.

Mississippi State got a commitment this weekend from 6’ 3” shooting guard Andrew Taylor from Marshall. I wonder if this will take them out of consideration for Sellers. Still holding out hope for that slim chance he returns.

Noticing more Michigan tweets circulating and several Minnesota Mentions. I think its going to be mississippi unless Nil deal from elsewhere is much greater. There could also be a school we know nothing about

Quite a comment on NIL that they can afford to easily outbid us for what may just be a depth piece for somebody who is make or break for us. Anybody who says mid majors are helped more by the portal than hurt needs to consider that.

Sellers is looking for money, which we don't have, so he won't be coming back.

What if NCAA implemented a transfer rule? , like they have in soccer… A negotiated transfer fee is agreed financial compensation paid from an interested club, to the club that possesses the player's exclusive playing rights...I know, no way in hell…the mid majors never get an advantage…

Anybody who says mid majors are helped more by the portal than hurt needs to consider that. Here we go with the misrepresenting and lying again. What he posted actually seems to be at least partial reality right now, but what I think will inevitably happen is that coaches at our level will start to do the same thing to schools down the food chain from us. We will be plucking kids from lower D1 and D2 based on potential and paying them a little bit, which is more than what their current schools can afford. It seems to me this is setting itself up somewhat like the pro baseball farm system, with clear levels of talent and potential - except coaches do have control over how they evaluate talent and forecast potential. IMO the creative coaches at all levels will win out in the long term. As of right now, I would not put Lewis in that class. He has a lot of proving himself to do in terms of recruiting.
