I was hoping we’d keep him as a cornerstone. Oh well. They don’t want to be at bsu then Lewis will have to go find some guys who are.
I think Lewis made it really tough on those guys, which is what competitors should want. But, the way we finished the season was pretty telling.
Hope they all prosper elsewhere and really really hope Lewis can bring in even better, tougher kids. And quickness. Watching these tourney teams what really stands out is the guards and overall quickness. And the teams that can’t shoot don’t last.

Hopefully the players Lewis will soon be recruiting are not only "tough" but also "can play basketball".

Sellers did play basketball and has great potential to be a stud. IMO he was our best athlete.

Hopefully the players Lewis will soon be recruiting are not only "tough" but also "can play basketball". Well, yeah. Being able to hit shots at a rate conducive to winning, getting more rebounds than the other team, and being able to handle the ball and keep it in our hands and get it to our scorers (score the ball) are what I’m hoping for. And they have to be quick enough to beat pressure, get to the rim, not get beat off the dribble. Play basketball. And be physically and mentally tough enough not to fade in March.

Losing Sellers would be the biggest loss. Hopefully we somehow keep him.

Isn't it a violation of the one time transfer rule for a school to contact a player (directly or indirectly) who is not in the portal?

Isn't it a violation of the one time transfer rule for a school to contact a player (directly or indirectly) who is not in the portal? Following a public twitter account is not a violation. After that how you going to prove anything . So many ways around it. Its all speculation at this point

Isn't it a violation of the one time transfer rule for a school to contact a player (directly or indirectly) who is not in the portal? DId that happen? If anyone here thinks this has NOT been going on for decades and no one is talking behind the scenes I have a very nice bridge in Brooklyn I have been trying to unload. Sellers is a good piece to build around but those athletic scoring wings are somewhat plentiful. Size is hard to replicate as is speed but if you think there are not shooters and ball handlers in the portal in quantity you are wrong. Hope he stays around but anyone who played for Whit and had to do an about face and look in the mirror and decide how they liked being coached may be looking for a different spot. If he heads to Kennesaw and then that coach levels up that may be a decision he has to live with as he may have to either play for a new coach or find some room on the bench at the next spot. All just a moot point until something actually transpires. Biggest thing is for Coach to start beating the bushes to fill out the roster. Playing for Knight leads me to believe he only wants folks who want to be here and get better.

If Sellers stays, great. If he leaves, so have hundreds of other kids from other programs. Lewis has plenty of transfers to filter through, plus, there may be some stud high schoolers getting overlooked because of the portal. I don't think he'll bring in kids who can't hack it. And now that he's coached a season he'll probably make a few adjustments here and there on how he does things. We'll see how it all shakes out.

Could be this is new normal.
Could be unlucky and put us more in rebuild mode. Had a chance to be in reload mode. Can't lose 3 or 4 starters and call it that.

As I write this post there are currently 641 D1 and 494 D2 players in the transfer portal. We still have 53 days to go until the portal closes. Seriously, after watching those last three games and especially the Ohio game, I am ok with turning on the blender and seeing who we get.

I'm not so OK, not seeing last 3 games as the signature of the team. Losing starters hurts.
