Tough game. Last time we played, I was there. Cards gave them a tough game. Radio announcers were almost laughing that their Wildcats would play the Cards. On the way home they were talking about how the Cards almost won the game! We showed that day that we belonged on the field with the Wildcats. Unless Neu changes direction, it could be a tough day for the Cards. If we use personnel as we should, open the game, and play tough defense, we could keep it close.
Under the same old Neu, I say it’s Kentucky 41 - 10.
A better use of our talent, I still say Kentucky in a dog fight 31 -24.

Last match up not a very good yardstick. A lot of differences.
Really hard to guess isn't it? It's an early season game with multiple factors uncertain which makes both teams rather unpredictable.

Yardstick completely blank. Same old mundane boring football by the Cards will make the swan start singing for Neu

When will be able to look forward to a season without saying we hope Neu will allow the Cardinals to play to their potential and not call a game like he is Vince Lombardi in 1965?...Probably after he is fired and we are starting over again. Very sad considering the athletes are there but not given the opportunity to shine. Let us hope Neu will loosen the reins on this talent and let them play.

Semonza is the no. 2. Neu said it was a deadheat with Hatcher. (no way he was ever gonna NOT start Hatcher, even if Semonza beat him out.) Kelly is odd man out. Again. But, allegedly he'll be Inspector Gadget. Which, our opponents will know he's only in for a gadget play and will defend it accordingly. Because we can't think out of the box.

I do like the idea of his being in the game as a wing back with a genuine threat as a receiver or to get the ball in the backfield and run or pass, rather than just run that sweep play. I got nothing against using our running game. We have a good back, and Kelly adds a speed back. If he's ever lined up in the backfield with a QB on long yardage it may make teams hesitate, and avoid all out pass rush. I want him on the field and getting touches

Hatcher will have his day in the sun but Semonza's consistency will at some point win out.

Hatcher will have his day in the sun but Semonza's consistency will at some point win out. I think this may be reality. I’m all for Hatcher playing the two first games then evaluate the situation. The “kid” is talented and I think given time is the best of the three. Use Kelly with him and I think we have something that could be exciting.

I want him on the field and getting touches I’m all in favor of that as long as they don’t merely trot him out there for 3 snaps or so for 3 basic runs. He can do more than that. The "Kelly package" we envisioned (more RPO) will be less of a factor. Have to expect both the other 2 more similar QBs playing more as passers with a good RB to perhaps be option #1. I think any coach would do that . Had Kelly been a clear #2 QB, I'd see that differently with him in as QB on more downs, and more RPO in a base offense for the starter. It's only then when we play that way that he would ever have a real chance to execute the whole playbook.
As it is, a good coach should find a way to use Kelly's strengths. That is quick feet and good vision more than size and arm to make all the throws, anyway. We may need him on the field for his play making and improvisational skills, which involve his passing ability, at least as an option threat when he gets the ball in the backfield. No sense in ignoring that completely.
This may not give him the chance to be a D1 starting QB but could make him a really dangerous addition and if we are run first we need every possible passing play...
All that changes if the freshman has a hard time in real games, or, if he is so good as to be the starter, in either case Kelly could easily be #1 next year after a transfer...but I am rooting for the freshman to be good and stay.

I'd let Hatcher take a beating against UK and Georgia, then play Semonza the rest of the season. The treatment of and lack of use of Kelly is shameful.
The line is -26.5. I don't see us beating the spread.
