During the end of whitford a couple of us were called to Beths office for conduct detrimental to the image of ball state sports. It was scary Gee. WHITFORD was detrimental to the image of Ball State sports. |

Social media is influential and you can't control it exactly. This forum is it's own world, on X or FB, or other official outlets, you can't just ignore what hurts you either. |

Like a rat leaving sinking ship. Seems quite sensible when you think about it. After a couple of blow ups last night I was afraid I might be targeted for uncharlielike conduct and had to get out. So far though I appear to have made it through the first wave of bannings OK, but you are leaving town, they have a temporary respite. |

they were pissed it was shawn sullivan who was doing the scolding. They scolded us and tgreatened blacklisting but then off the record told us we were not wrong but stirrung up the pot was not helping. Im not sure they could even legally do what tgey were saying. Which was banning us from worthern for x anount of weeks

Relentless postings for a couple weeks that were statictally and factually correct. |

So many here lament what The Star Press doesn't do, but this seems to make it pretty clear BSU doesn't want coverage it can't control. A real media outlet actually covering them would be their worst nightmare. |

I know Shawn personally, and I'm surprised he would be that thin skinned, unless it was because Beth was giving him shit about it. Although I can understand getting pissed when you can't afford to solve the problem, and people bitching all the time. Doesn't seem to be a good idea to ban your staunchest fans, though. I think they need all the donors they can get. |

I can't think of a "real news outlet" that wouldn't have that problem. Muncie SP and every other local news outlet everywhere doesn't really have much clout. Even big city press is not really free of controls. Today, that's true. But what people here want from the SP is what they did when newspapers had more clout. Sure, schools can refuse credentials, refuse access to players and coaches, and that's been done before, but, at least in the past, it was always a losing proposition for the school and schools typically caved eventually. Today, not so much because, as you say, those outlets basically have no clout. And the schools like it that way. And that's the main point, that what folks on this board want from the press and what the school wants from the press are very different things. Schools don't give a shit today about getting press from some medial outlet. They are their own media outlet. |
