Would we have gone after and gotten Doughty if Sparks was still here? Maybe a little silver lining in this cloud? Independent. I think we'd have both and then lose Sparks as a senior to get NIL, bright lights, better competition. But the money he's getting may be worth it to him.
I am not sure he had great pro prospects whatever he did. Cannot criticize his taking the money and running.

Hope he surprises me and everyone else and gets minutes! I’m ready for this season with so many unknowns it could very interesting.
Let’s see if Coach Lewis can coach with mostly new guys he picked up. Go Cards!

While $100k may sound like a lot, I have read that self employment tax, medicare, ss and state/local tax on NIL monies would reduce this to about $70k. Probably affects Carson Steele even more.

I'm thinking $70 is still a lot of money to play basketball if you're a 20-year-old college student. If you're an ed major, for instance, who ends up not being a professional basketball player, that's probably close to double your first year salary.
