That needs some proof. Not what we want, but what the powers to be want. And, of course proof of resources. And, not what you want. True enough. What I want is fantasy too. FB put in a time machine returned back to '80's... MAC FB could function in that time. Well if we drop Track, Wrestling, and cut other sports a bit. Wanting is irrelevant, isn't it? What I don't want is to see the other athletic programs today to die on the vine without resources that went to sustain a FB progra

A good start would be to jettison Lynch. I've seen way too many "slow starts." Send Morgan Hagee packing. He was a terrible kicker when he was an undergrad. Not a very good special teams coach. We have a kicker who's best FG is 37 yards, missed a 52 yarder to tie BG in regulation. Missed a 50 yarder to grab three turnover points in the 1st tonight, then misses a 37 yarder to start the 4th. Need 50 yard FG kickers for those close games. I don't want to hear "well he's a freshman." BSU has 12 games to play during this kid's freshman year. Well, the kid did win the game on a 36 yarder. It was really low and almost blocked. BSU needs to step up the kicking game. We cannot rely on the offense getting into 40 yd or less situations every time.

That ship sailed in MAC athletics 10 years ago.

Honestly, if BSU is gonna keep sponsoring swimming, they need a new pool. I'm surprised those teams do as well as they do given the facility. The pool was built in the early 60's. A 6 lane, 25 yard pool isn't gonna cut it much longer. But a pool is something that will benefit the whole student body and the Muncie community.

I know that the Campus Master Plan calls for the construction of a new swimming facility. However, I haven't heard any whispers of a new facility in the works. I would hope for a new facility within the next five years.

That master plan is always something less firm than an approval and less firm still from budget authorization, but more than just a wish list.
I think it is a multi function building and since students, faculty, and others use it probably can be funded from state money, maybe team locker rooms from donors. Getting all the pieces lined up for that to be a priority and get it going is not easy.

The only way we get a new pool is if it is paid for with state funds because it is a multi-purpose facility that has clear open swim hours for students. Or...a donor specifically pays for it (which is very unlikely to happen).

I made those same comments at the Muncie Zoning board meeting before they voted for a 1980's tech pool at the new YMCA site that is being "shoe horned" into the fieldhouse parking lot at North Walnut street. President Mearns was in attendance when I pointed out that an aquatic center that was 50 meters with a diving well and floating bulkhead to convert to a yards would be best for BSU and the community. Nobody seriously asked the swim community about this. Jay Agnew is the coach at BSU and he is a good one. Too bad he coaches with such an outdated facility.

And Lewellen is a really cool facility, although as already stated, badly outdated. Ball State use to host the H.S. State swim championships because they had the best facility in the State. Then I.U. built their natatorium in Indy, and Purdue also built a new pool. Time for B.S.U. to update the pool. I think I read earlier that B.S.U.'s first national champion was a swimmer. Swimming could be even more competitive than it already is with a decent facility.

Does a high school parent NOT see the 8 year stats and NOT question the BSU recruiter about “what happens if/when?” Well, of course they would.

Yes but Neu and company sell “family” and making sure the kid graduates above all else so moms likes that. Winning becomes secondary. (Yes, the point of school is, well, school). But winning as well would be nice.

TA&M buys out Jimbo for $76M Another indicator that MAC schools don’t belong in FBS.
